The amount of you that are thirsting over this revelation is amusing.
Apparently, we Aussies are wrong. We are here to [Redacted] spiders.
While I shave this unibrow away, a couple of folks have brought up our alliance with the living Nerubians in Northrend. This could be an interesting in, and an interesting wrinkle, with this part of the expansion. Are they okay with this new take on their species or not?
And does this tie into the Harpy story we had in the Dragon Isles, where the Screechwings were desperately trying to artificially evolve themselves by eating Storm-infused Roc eggs, to become strong enough to devour Dragon Eggs and become ālike usā, as the Matriarch screamed upon her death?
Is there some sort of clock ticking that we donāt know about, that the races spawned by the Wild Gods and Loa might not have the same kinds of souls as the other mortal races? And what that might imply for their future on Azeroth once she starts to wake up?
After a brisk hike in the sun after a very early wakeup, Iām now wondering if the new āspecsā (whatever that might entail) in Season of Discovery are a subversive/sublime way to test new specs for retail.
If people do go crazy over [Insert class here] [Insert role here], porting it over would be a great way to balance a few new support specs in an upcoming expac (maybe as far down as TLT).
Iām not sure thatās the level of influence Iād want, actually. I mean more along the lines of sentiment analysis and not introducing new specs that arenāt āprovenā. I donāt think anything prior to this factors in to that sort of influence.
One influence I would love (sorry, Iām just an altoholic who enjoys the cheap, fast fix of current leveling haha) ā Chromie time that gives you the old world back.
I hope that they are not porting Dragonriding over fully to all old mounts. I really like my no-clip flying more than Dragonriding because I like auto-flying to locations instead of having to constant press buttons and floop around for vigor so I can keep flying. And because I like to have absolute precision in where I take off and land.
If itās applied to old mounts with no ability to choose between the two, then they may as well bring the Argent Crusade mount controls in and apply them to ground mounts.
I always liked this kind of content but it got sort of tainted in SL and BfA since torghast/islands were so āsystemsyā. But Dragonflight just kinda did away with scenario content rather than redeeming it. If I can just go on a wacky underground adventure with a dwarf and get some loot rather than artifact power raider dust thatās much better
Meet The Arathi
Another interesting culture that players will encounter in the War Within is the Arathi. These descendants of the original Arathorian Empire have arrived relatively recently and through some mysterious circumstances find themselves trapped here within Khaz Algar.
As a people they are worshippers and wielders of Holy Fire. They are dedicated to bringing both hope and light to the darkness. They are a tough and resilient people with every member of the society being able combatants. Some are further blessed with Paladin-like abilities through their devotion to the Light.
Theyāve established a home away from home in an enormous cavern bordered by an endless underground sea from which terrifying creatures emerge to rampage and create havoc.
An even greater threat presents itself from below as a constant swarm of nerubians, which have been held back, so far, from invading Arathi lands. The assault is unrelenting and the threat is dire.
Also cool that an old world race will get some content. Curious to see if these other factions theyāre talking about are gonna be eventual allied races too, because again, rock skin tones for dwarves as an expansion-tier feature is sort of disappointing.
Midnight both intrigues me and makes me feel nervous. Iād love to see a bunch of cool elf stuff in general and cool blood elf stuff in particular, but Iām worried that QuelāThalas is indeed going to get updated just to be messed up in a new way. Iām also worried theyāll destroy the Sunwell in the end, which I really wouldnāt like and which might make one of my favorite characters totally unplayable, or at the very least a very different person with a very different life.
I hope it will turn out to be awesome.
The War Within looks really, really cool and Iām hype. I want to RP in Hallowfall because itās gorgeous. Mostly right now I just feel full of excitement instead of having coherent things to say.
Itās unclear to me whether the warbands transmog thing only means that I can collect plate on my cloth-wearer (etc.) or that I can also transmog plate appearances onto my cloth-wearerās armor. Iām assuming the former, and thatās a big enough improvement over the current state of things that I donāt mind. The latter would also be fantastic, though.
If somebody asked me what I really wanted Warbands to be, I would say āa mechanic whereby you can create your own follower NPCs based on somewhat customizable class/talent templates that can be given the appearance of any of your own alts, then take up to 4 of them on adventures.ā But nobody did, and Iām honestly very happy for the account-wide stuff.
At some point, assuming the dynamic flight toggle turns out to be as much of a success as Iām hoping and expecting it will be, I (and I might be the only one, I donāt know) think it would be really neat to have a static/dynamic riding toggle implemented for ground mounts as well. Iāve long wanted to have more than just two speed settings, and I think that using boosts, something like a stamina bar, and fluid interaction with corners/terrain/jumpable objects could be really fun.
Iād really like it if the āwarbandsā feature had more profound changes to how we make characters, such as the ability to make multiple characters with the same name and switch between them seamlesslyābasically, a WoW implementation of FFXIV job switching. Yeah I wanna be Miko the warrior and Miko the mage without the burden of accent marks and logging in and out!
I just saw a screenshot that makes it seem like I might be able to create multiple separate warbands as a way of sorting my characters instead of having a long, stressful, unsortable character list, and thatās something I really want, but Iām not sure Iām interpreting it right.
I am not super hyped but fairly hyped. I would however 100% with you and many others when I say that at 20 years, I expectedā¦more?
Or maybe something - game changing? Housing would have done that, but Iām almost certain itās not coming.
I got a lot of things thrown at me that I want and that make me excited but many of them are quality of life changes that should have already been implemented. Pretty psyched about stone dwarves with blue skin which I can RP as Frostborn.
I will buy it, because I love this game and this universe. I just expected 20 years wouldā¦I donāt know. Youād think theyād have given us somethingā¦more.
I mean, imagine if the Warbands brings all your alts to the camp.
The fusterclucking glory of it.
But I do like the idea that you can group four or so alts to your main so that you can guarantee that every transmog run will net somebody something.
Imagine if they coupled the AI Bots that are supposed to be able to do solo runs of dungeons with your Alts? Imagine running dungeons for funsies with your own squad? The writing prompts that could spawn.
Yeahā¦ ever since Shadowlands ushered in the End Times Iāve been expecting some really risky and dramatic changes to bring people back, but neither Dragonflight or this seems like that.
Looks fine, but nothing dramatic. Another 4 zones, some dungeons, some raids, and low-effort allied race. Warbands are the most appealing announcement for me and even that is a quality of life thing for people already playing, not a dramatic shift to lure people back.
Shadowlands never really got its own Legion to redeem it like WoD did. āMake your own Illidan and Ashbringers for everyoneā was crazy hype at the time and helped give the game a few more healthy years of life, but it seems like the post-Shadowlands years are just gonna be a holding pattern for whoeverās still left with no homeruns to try and revitalize the game.
Thereās never gonna be player housing, thereās never gonna be a world revamp, thereās never gonna be this stuff we keep harping on, whatever, fine, 4 zones and some levels will get me to play every once in a while I guess but idk if Iāll ever get that into this game again and I guess thatās fine, I enjoy single-player games more now anyway
I know what you mean. Iām both thrilled and nervous about a return to Quelāthalas. I want them to update it SO badly, but not if it means everything is going to be purple for the next 15 years.
