I imagine it will depend on the intro.
If it is the heroes arrive and they go “New friends, awesome!” They will be fine.
If they prove to be uber racists and light thumping jackbooted thugs… Fashies get smashied

The “Warband” is the whole roster but that campfire thing is your faves, it seems, so you’ll have 4 or 5 up there and then a massive list. I’m hoping we can arrange multiple groups, that will be much better IMO.
On a side note, I decided to get my full roster of each class on MG and WrA to 70 and leave them as if locked in a glass case – focusing on my OCE roster.
Now, I can actually main Sef in my OCE guild and have her in a group with characters from MG and my OCE server…
The aging was confirmed to be because of doing Dailies in the Maw. It’s canon.
Yeah, I completely believe that. Being forced to play Shadowlands every day for several years would do a number.
I wish the cinematic started a few moments earlier when he was muttering “little lion” ha! I’m a big lion, I really am! to himself.
Show your children who is really your favourite!
The natural endpoint of the Warband login screen is being able to ship my own characters together based on how they stand around the campfire, and I’m 100% here for it.
Kinda funny, really, given the subtitle. I can’t really say ‘The War Within’ makes me think of fighting the evil darkness below, as much as it makes me think of, say, civil war or espionage. That and the mentions of the World Soul and Void stuff just makes me feel like they’re doing BfA again, but without the pretense of it being about the factions this time.
…Also no villainized Warchief.
That said, I wouldn’t object if the Light started pushing folks to try and unify all peoples and its a Xe’ra kind of situation, where it seems good on paper but the more we read, the worse it gets.
Want to see the Sha’tar of Outland show up to be our saviors and have a three-way fight between the Old God servants under the Earth that want to use Gorribal to fully penetrate Azeroth’s defences and fuse with the World Soul, this Naaru/Light thing that the Cave Arathai have been worshipping and wants everybody goose-stepping to its tune, and the Sha’tari Naaru who don’t demand worship, only working towards peace and tolerance amongst the people.
No villainized Warchief yet. Plenty of time for Lor’themar to decide he likes fascism.
my dream did the faction war thing is the factions formally uniting with unsanctioned splinters of each side refusing to give it up. i would have preferred the “begrudging partners” route from wotlk but they kind of blew that up by making the Horde run through the entire Geneva Checklist
Tbh that’s my headcanon for PvP these days
When they added the faction symbols, that’s what I was hoping for as well – the ability to join sub-factions. Not necessarily Horde joining Alliance but both Horde and Alliance characters being able to pledge to Cenarion, Argent, etc. … and to a hardcore splinter group on each side. Kinda felt it would cover most bases for players.
If they continue with ten levels per expansion, then in The Last Titan we’ll hit level 100, which is a nice round number to go along with the arc that’s intended to cap off the first 20 years of the narrative. I don’t know whether or not I think they’ll level-squish again at that point; either way, assuming their experiment with hero talents goes well, I would be surprised if we ever level normally again after Last Titan as opposed to doing some form of prestige leveling/hero spec thing instead.
Rogue Thought:
What if the Cave Arathai are how Anduin rekindles his Light, and his faith in himself? If these are the direct inheritors of the Arathai King and were uncorrupted by the Arcane, and the politics that eventually sundered the Kingdom of Arathor into the successor-kingdoms that came to dominate the Eastern Kingdoms, this might be where the Sanduin gets his second wind?
The Sanduin learns to accept that failure happens to everybody, and you’re not weak and useless for failing, even badly, and in doing so helps rekindle whatever Light nonsense is making the crystal that is illuminating that cavern stutter and fade over time.
Just … we’re finding Humans disconnected from everything after the Troll Wars and the social malaise that gripped their people, and they’re worshippers of the Light in a more simplistic and primal form than the Light the surface worships, and they too are facing their darkest hour but are remaining steadfast. Fellow Light worshippers who also have to suffer with the feeling of isolation, abandonment and cripplingly unfair odds stacked against them who could both be guides and friends to Anduin in this darkest period of his life.
I’d also laugh hysterically if the Scarlet Crusade showed up, and the Cave Arathai just give them the five finger debate when the topic of other races comes up. Like the Cave Arathai don’t even care, do you also embody the Flame? Troll, Orc, Elf, Dwarf, whatever, we welcome you as brothers and sisters in arms, and there’s just the Scarlets in the corner going
Just watching them just get constantly smacked down and around and being told nobody outside of the echo chamber thinks they’re good guys always makes me smile.
I was thinking the same thing. Open up the guild to any Sunreaver characters that happen to be on MG.
What if the Cave Arathai are how Anduin rekindles his Light, and his faith in himself?
You’d think so. I mean “The War Within” has a double meaning. There’s a war within Azeroth and there’s also a war within Anduin.
If they give him a good arc where he overcomes his ghost and blah blah, it will be like… the first time they actually applied good structure to the game’s story.
What did they reveal about the other two in the trilogy? Who gets frozen in carbonite in part two and are furblogs like the Ewoks in part 3?
I await their hamfisting and messing it up
Will be interesting to see if this expansion “trilogy” is knocked out quickly. Lots of game companies have tried to do this “smaller content, faster release” thing and it doesn’t usually work out but who knows
