and thats being generous. I feel like maybe you are not in a strong position to be critiquing their writing.
as for the relationship arc, so what, even if there WAS a relationship between Liadrin and Lor’themar, relationships change, people break up and move on. while some feelings may have been established between them, they where never an official couple. now Lor’themar is pursuing other options, thats life.
The game’s story is not great but it’s good enough, and it’s been that way since Cataclysm so I’m not sure why story is such a hot topic in BfA. I guess people really cared about Sylvanas.
What I find strange is that Blizzard produced 5 ultra high quality cinematics (and likely very expensive to produce) over the course of BfA when story has never been a priority for Blizzard.
I think it’s because for BfA it seems like they are trying to give a bunch of long standing stories closure while also trying to set up future stories. And all of these various stories don’t necessarily fit well together. That combined with as it was mentioned earlier too many different writers trying to all tell that story at once with too little communication makes for a jumbled up mess.
Then you take all that and apply the over dramatic Flash Gordon adventure style that Blizz has been going for lately and it just makes things much worse and obviously bad. That style of writing can work well and be fun as long as your story is fairly simple and straightforward. When you try it with too many themes and plotlines at once al it does is magnify the inconsistencies and holes.
If you look at the leveling zone stories, they are actually pretty good. But that is because they are small, self contained stories that really don’t have anything to do with anything other than the zone they are in.
Its when you get to the overarching story in the war campaign, the Heroes of Azeroth, and the Old Gods story in the patches that everything falls apart and becomes bad.
BFA raids are Uldir, Battle of Dazar’alor, Eternal Palace and Ny’alotha.
The story started with faction war between Alliance and Horde… maybe referring to Warmode and elimination of PvP server. How would you link this story to story of underground facility made by Titans in Uldir? Then link it to the story of Dazar’alor, the center of of Zandalari empire? Then link it to the story of Queen Azshara with her undersea ruins? Then link it to the story of awakened old God, N’zoth. Simple answer is… you really cant. Blizz just made up stories.
What’s the difference of this with the original Vanilla/Classic? I dont even understand Ragnaros story of Molten Core. What is it gotta do with Onyxia story? Then it opens with Ahn 'Qiraj story. With most people dont even set foot to it especially on Naxxramas.
Who cares? All I know is I have to undergo fight sequences/scenarios to beat these badazz bosses. My adventure on these dungeons are fun and amazing. I loved it. And that’s what counts.
BTW, Lich King story is a copy from the story of WarCraft 3. Burning Crusade’s Illidan story also came from WarCraft 3. Blizz just made up stories to keep it interesting.
This is what we want to think. It was back during the RTS games, combined with the game play. During WoW? Hard to say, to a degree for sure. But WoW’s story could never hold a candle to the RTS. It’s only getting more visible with each year.
I think writing in general is poor across the entertainment medium. A huge explosion of demand for tons of shows, games, etc and not enough quality writers to fill the demand. That’s where we get so many ‘professional’ writers that write fanfic. Extremely poor character development. Granted in wows case I think it’s also due to the staggering patch cycles that chop the story up into incoherent splotches.
Thank you, English is not my native tongue, so sorry for my bad grammer.
However, the relationship was confirmed in the book. It is said that they both love each other and were suppose to get married. Yes, they could said that he changed his mind for whatever the reason…which, they never mention, but at least they should tell us the process. Right now it littereally feels like that they are making shlt out of no where, throw them into players and tell you “here’s the lore. No logic? take it or leave it.”
I’m not asking much, but at least they should pay less amount of attention into this, story matters in many terms.
