HoTS wasn’t really a factor. It was mostly dead long before Blizzard cut the cord.
AND AND AND when a sentence says and it means both not just the one you want to believe.
AND AND AND they didn’t talk about RoA’s release date but specifically talked about Classics betas. Man, you are REALLY trying, I’ll give you that. Unfortunately you don’t really seem to be educated enough to understand what we are talking about. It’s cool, I get it.
So presuming it is all subs that is 25 million players word wide. Or at least the lion share of blizzard money. Overwatch didnt launch any new expansion. Diablo 3 is dead. Hots is also dead abd hearth stone didnt quit drop yet but many are angry about the pc nature of the cards.
So wow still making money. Rumors of their demise is grossly exaggarated.
Ahh thanks for the info.
I was under the impression the general consensus last time was due to Hots, so made an educated guess it was still a factor
HoTS never really did that well to begin with. It was way too late to the party and was trying to compete with League.
That reminds me that I need to spend the money I keep setting aside for stock or it doesn’t do me any good to do that.
I have a broker I just haven’t gotten around to doing it.
And your making an assumption that our interpretation of the evidence is wrong because you don’t like what it says. Without providing anything to refute or debate about, just a “Wrong because it says AND AND AND”.
Unlike our interpretation of the evidence, your assumption isn’t based off any evidence whatsoever besides the word “and”.
lol, whatever. I can see you are desperate to believe what you want to believe even if you have to give all sorts of hidden meanings to the phrasing.
Go ahead, knock yourself out.
Exactly. Kraft is another one I invest in… mainly because the stock is down. I think they can bounce back. And then the standards… gold, oil, silver, Apple, Google. (And Blizzard, also because the stock price dropped to an affordable point)
I will say, their stock price keeps dropping so it might be worth picking some up. I can only assume it will go up if there are some big announcements later this year or at least to hang on to for next year.
What am I trying to believe? You haven’t actually pointed anything out other than “AND” like a nut job. Please, give me some insight on what I might be missing.
Honestly with this report, it was explicitly stated that OW has stabilized and Hearthstone is rising again slowly. The only other IPs beyond WoW would be HoTS and SC2, and as someone else has pointed out, both are as dead as dead can be.
I’ve been toying around with this idea, and if I am to buy stock I need to do it fast - I’d imagine with this year’s Blizzcon lineup along with the release of Immortal (which love it or hate it, will make tons of cash) will drive up the price.
Speaking of, this was an interesting article on how they plan on handling the launch of classic.
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-07-29-a-big-wow-classic-interview-in-the-lead-up-to-launch
Towards the end you have these points:
How big is the WoW Classic launch in comparison to something like a WoW expansion? Is it different internally?
Omar Gonzalez: There’s some differences and similarities. We will likely set up a war room - like NASA Mission Control - where we have all hands on deck. On one hand, it’s a little bit simpler, because what players will be doing is more known. But on the other hand, it’s much more complicated because we’ve built out, effectively, a whole new infrastructure. That’s something we typically don’t do for an expansion. An expansion launch is much more of a software upgrade. Our Classic [launch] will include hardware deploys in all of the various regions - something we haven’t done in almost 15 years.
Brian Birmingham: Definitely, in terms of rough sizing, we are treating it as the same level of event internally as a major expansion launch. It’s all hands on deck. The whole World of Warcraft team is lending a hand, making sure we’re good to go.
I may be counted as a Liberal in these dark times, however…
I am fully a Capitalist, however unethical capitalism as we have these days is going to kill the planet. Blizzard tends to remember that Corporations have to have a conscientious.
I point out when they do wrong, I make it a point to never allow them to slack in quality. Which as far as writing goes, Blizzard is failing badly right now, and not just WOW.
Thank you, I always like to read these reports.
My inner capitalist loves them.
Evidence shows, Blizzard Activision is struggling, Blizzard is being forced to prop up Activision every now and again just so they can survive, in an eat or be eaten industry. They are doing OK this quarter, but if you look at the treads, their growth rate is behind the curve.
Are a great solution to a major industry problem. One fueled by added cash sinks like the AH mount at 5 million gold. They need to stop doing these things, because it encourages gold buying. And frankly the WOW token isn’t going to get you to the Mount, only a Pro-gold farmer can generate 5 million. (wow tokens 5 million gold is about $1000us, Gold Farmers charge around $600us. The only reason they are still working is because of these gold sinks.)
It still has close to 3 million active accounts. Not the largest population in a MMO by a long shot anymore, but the community isn’t dead either.
However they make more off of their other games these days.
As a Fan of the game, I want to see it thrive, I would love for End of Wrath levels of engagement by the community and by Blizzard, but those years are long gone.
Quit the iPhone on 7, I want the headphone jack.
I use a LG G8 ThinQ and it’s a million times the Phone the iPhone is. Also has a headphone jack.
True, although if an expansion fails hard enough, they will scale the operation down at this point. BTW Legion held active subs over 3 million for most of it’s run, however BfA dipped down last year. Granted no numbers are official, but there are monitoring sites basically counting people playing the game during the day, most of them place us between 2.5 and 3.5 active subs. The US servers are down to around 1 million BTW.
Purchased the 6 month deal, got the mount, ect. I came back after a year break with it, granted I maintain the active sub even when not playing. I forget to turn them off sometimes. ie ESO charged me, got to cancel it again, as I’m breaking from it for a year now.
Just because they haven’t said what they’re working on doesn’t mean they’re “resting on their laurels” (kudos though for that turn of phrase). Game companies don’t like to talk about what they’re working on until they’re much closer to being done with the product because they both don’t want to set unrealistic expectations (which players tend to see as promises), and they want to keep things under wraps from competition.
…but they’ve literally said they are working on multiple projects.
Edited for Source, sorry, took me a moment to find it:
https://www.gameinformer.com/2019/05/28/an-interview-with-blizzard-president-j-allen-brack
But one of the things we’ve said is that we have more games we’re working on now than in any other point in the company’s history. And that’s very exciting. Being able to see those products, see those games, see those things that the team’s really excited about – that’s what gets me up in the morning.
Whoops, you’re very right. I edited my post to reflect this!
They can only be judged on the product that they sell. They haven’t sold a new product since 2016 and have put one of their products (Heroes of the Storm) into Maintenance mode.
Outside of Diablo Immortal, they haven’t announced a new game. That means nothing for Consoles or PCs have been announced. Maybe they will announce a new game at Blizzcon but then it will take them 12-18 months to bring it to market. They don’t have any new games being released in 2019. They may not have new games to release in 2020.
