What was Q1 revenue?
Canât find revenue for Q1 after a quick google. Only that it was less than 2018 Q1, but higher than projected to be for 2019 Q1.
I keep getting told âwait until next quarter, Blizz profits gonna tank!â.
I guess I gotta wait till Q3 now.

What I find more interesting is the MAUs. Quarter after quarter after quarter they have been dropping. This quarter they went flat with a specific mention of Classic. Kind of makes me wonder if they will finally go up next quarter or if they will drop again after the hype over classic falls off.

But I find myself on blizzards side because of the wow community constantly and ridiculously bashing them

Which part were they wrong on though? Revenues are down year over year, MAUs are down, subs are down, and most of the hype is coming from an updated version of the game nearly 15 years old.
Iâm definitely not one of the crazy âBlizzard is going to dieâ folks and I do feel like it will get turned around eventually, but all evidence suggests they were in fact correct.
Probably because the same people complaining about WoW dying, on the forums, are the same people still subscribed to WoW complaining on the forums.
And WoW Tokens.
And Storemounts, and 6 month deals.
Also other games might be doing great, wow isnât even their cash cow anymore.
I donât see how this matters to anyone but shareholders.

It is a publicly traded company. Anyone with money can own a small piece of Blizzard.
Apple keeps making more and more money too but they still havenât made a phone in 5 years thats worth upgrading from my old one for.
How much money they make has no bearing on whether they make an improved version of this game or not. If earnings represented that, then BFA should be way ahead of Legion on every facet of the game. Itâs just notâŚ
What I find interesting is subs are supposedly up yet MAUs are stagnant.
Since Q2 was basically the Classic Beta (8.2 didnât release until the last week of Q2) this implies to me that the boost in subs was due to people subbing for a chance at the Beta.
Hence why they arenât recorded in the MAUâs, they wouldnât be active users if they only subbed to get into a beta and held no interest with Retail.
Honestly, this is kinda the results I predicted regardless. Come Q3 weâll see more info about 8.2âs performance (if they separate its entry from Classic, otherwise the data could be skewed like it was in Q2.)
The part where the people that are constantly complaining keep paying, and playing.
I mean what are they doing, rage-playing the game? Clearly if it was as disastrous as they claimed, theyâd bounce.

That quarter ended June 30. Exactly how many people do you think actually came back for classic that early and did what - pay for a sub and not do anything ?

Blizzard would have higher MAUs and revenue if they released a game more often than once every 5 years. Not reforges, expansions, or graphical packages but actual games. Where is Diablo IV or Overwatch 2? What about new properties?
They have been resting on their laurels since 2016 now. Nothing of substance is in the pipeline.
A lot, actually, due to how the Classic Beta was marketed. Only people with a subscription was let into the beta, so there was probably a very high amount of Classic fans trying their best to get in by subbing in advance.
It can be extrapolated why MAUs are stagnant yet subs are up - a player who subbed solely for the beta and not retail wouldnât show up as an MAU as that player wouldnât be an active user of the game.
