Except it absolutely should be on their minds. Blizzard created the gold sink when they made the NPC mats cost a ridiculous amount and then nerfed the drop rate of the leather mats required to make said legendaries. Which they had to have known would have beena requirement to do any competitive content above casual play (lfr, WQs, etc.). And that gold=time a player has to spend. To have that completely undercut doesn’t feel good in any way and devalues the investment a player put into getting said legendaries.
It can’t be, because realm economies vary too heavily.
They can’t just not nerf something because people who are barely maximizing their characters as it is are worried about having to make a second legendary total.
Either way, you have PLENTY of time to get what you need to move forward.
Or you can just stick with the one you have and be slightly suboptimal.
The game moves on nonetheless.
i don’t want to spend my time playing crafting simulator thats not gameplay, theres a flaw in that too, theres a flaw in the whole system ![]()
Crafting gear in the game is absolutely gameplay, and it was one of the major “complaints” people had that they wanted fixed coming out of Legion and BFA.
Then there would be nothing wrong with recipes you learn for upgrading the legendary once you are L60 and have your profession capped and have the base legendary unlocked. You know, instead of having to buy vendor mcguffins and grab a whole new base if you want to upgrade it or craft the same L1 item 15 times and so on and so forth.
I mean honestly, how in the world does a ring, in the case of the L4 legendary base take… 85? I think? ingots of metal? is it a belt or a ring!?
just because they made a solution doesn’t mean it was the right one. Its like saying: There was a spider in my house so I burnt down my house. Thats not the answer the answer was to squish it or paper towel it and bring it outside
Why would anyone be incentivized to drop more gold and time into new legendaries on the hope that Blizzard doesn’t nerf them or completely change them? For a plate or cloth wearer this probably isn’t that big of an issue, but for leather and mail wearers it’s really a kick in the teeth. You can disagree all you want, but it still feels bad to make that investment only to have it devalued. If the NPC gold cost was nerfed into the ground that’d be one thing as the over all cost would decrease significantly. But when you have to pay ~100k per leggo and “hope” it doesn’t get changed or nerfed on you, I’m sorry but that’s not acceptable.
Does sound like it was the right solution to me, if we are here bickering about having to craft more than one item an expansion.
Sounds like having the profession is extremely valuable, which is what people have wanted for a long time.
thank you, typing is not my strong suit but this is it this is the post
the solution isn’t to shove the whole game into being gated by crafting, they were supposed to make it useful again not gate the whole game experience with it
You got what, 6+ months out of that one?
It could have been nerfed earlier, but out of courtesy they are waiting until 9.1.
You also made an investment into a specialization that is being “devalued” too.
How does that make you feel?
This is simply the game we play, and its best to recognize that if you do want to find enjoyment with it in the future.
Not everything you invest time into is going to be exactly as you want it for 2 straight years.
Things get nerfed and buffed all the time, and this is one of them.
I mean, for me, they did the opposite of this, and it had the same impact.
They buffed a legendary that was quite bad and now its my BIS, completely overlapping the usecase of the one I was using before.
I haven’t used it since, and that does not bother me, or even surprise me.
That’s just how the game has worked and will always work.
Perhaps the best way to think about it is this, though:
You are so worried about maximization of your class that you are desperate enough to craft any legendary that the sims say is best regardless of your interests. That’s fair.
So you should also recognize that in being that way, you will have to roll with the punches along the way.
There are some classes who even without changes to the legendary, their “ideal” pick differed since the start.
It isn’t. You can actually play the game without legendaries if you really wanted to.
I accidentally fumbled with gear sets last week and almost upgraded a 19 with no legendary on haha.
The game is not gated by crafting, and even if it was, that would only support the idea of crafting more, more often.
I hope you enjoy everything you do in wow a lot because everything is subject to this same treatment.
and we’ve seen useful crafting before, raids would drop patterns for certain slots that could give you access to pieces of gear that you could want to use. They used to have actual slots with gemslots, real impactful enchants and secondary bonuses for being certain gathering professions they ripped that out of the game
It’s already been nerfed once. This will be the second time dropping to less than half it’s original value.
Actually I don’t have to roll with these punches. I can choose to no longer play. Which is how I’m leaning atm. We’ll see how the PTR shakes out and if this is reversed. If not, I’ll probably take a break from WoW for the rest of SL. It’s not the first long break I’ve taken and there are a slew of other games out there to play. If Blizzard doesn’t think my time is valuable then it’s time I spent it else where.
i think at this point a tailor pays you to allow them the honor of crafting your legendary for you.
Ya, real talk though, if you would consider quitting the game because a single legendary got nerfed for a single spec, this likely isn’t the game for you.
Just being realistic here.
It sucks to hear it, but I’m sure once cooler heads prevail you will have a different opinion.
I would be FAR more concerned with the actual changes to the spec than the legendary, right?
Like, if you are this worried about the legendary being nerfed, you should probably be looking to switch specs entirely.
ok great you probably aren’t pugging your 19 keys. you’ve probably pugged members, if you inspect them and see they aren’t using a legendary you aren’t going to take them, no one is.
I am actually.
Every single run I have done has been documented and they are all pugged.
Its kind of my thing haha.
Some how, I did the entire key without a legendary, and I didn’t even notice. If it wasn’t for the stream, I probably would have done multiple runs straight with none on.
But ya, no one is inspecting players like that.
At most they are checking covenants.
alright you’re just lying at this point, you check all of this stuff. Legendaries are part of the game, they are literally in the dungeon journal, blizzard expects you to use them
