From what perspective ? raiding ? pvp ? mythic ? WC ?
Mainly PvP and that’s where it would be most likely to be of any use…

Arena, though pretty positive it applies to pretty much all forms of PVP. You could probably find some of Dilly’s postings about it as he’s very knowledgeable about the spec over on the Arena forums.
Edit: Wingclipt could probably also give you a more informed reason why, though I doubt he’s paying attention this thread and the idea the few times it has been posted he’s been a bit harsh lol.

I can see Arena, as I too am gearing to play arena, there is really no reason to equip a bow there. Most arena’s are designed small enough to where ranging someone is difficult.
BG’s and Wpvp I would disagree. The brawl that just went down being melee was truly not at a advantage unless you have crazy burst like a Paladin for instance. Now even then using just a range weapon was not menu, but it did help to pick off people and set them up for a quick strike Harpoon.
Again, as I posted, I am not saying this is right or wrong, I am just expanding a ideal that I think that is just a different approach to a spec which is such the topic of discussion.
I was just explaining what more experienced players (specifically for PVP) have noted on the topic is all, which is why I mentioned where you could likely find Dilly. And Wingclipt often hangs around in the Arena or Hunter forums as well. I’m certain either of them could probably give you a more detailed response as to why they believe it is not a good choice to try and make use of the ranged weapon beyond the autoshoot / killshot issues.
Understood, I’ll take a look and see what their thoughts are.

Especially given that Aspect of the Eagle is only a 90s CD.
Papers love survival hunter and let’s be real if they made survival ever good in pve everyone would complain. Because they are stubborn and dont want to play it so I think blizzard wants to keep filling that pvp niche and never make it outperform raid wise for the ranged specs
And the complainers are fully in the right for doing so. It’s bad enough a spec got removed, but jeopardising BM and MM’s position and potentially invalidating ranged weapon combat entirely by making SV the go-to PvE spec? Forget about it.

I’m not sure how I bashed anyone. They said people didn’t play melee because they were stubborn, all I did was point out that some people prefer ranged dps to melee dps.

Make Survival the supreme spec imo. I want to see the tears flow!
Why couldn’t they remake survival into a grandma-themed spec?
Knit bandages to heal yourself
Throw fresh-out-of-the-oven, scalding, ooey gooey, chocolatey chip cookies at enemies to burn them
Trip enemies with yarn
Deflect attacks with a walker
Hop on a scooter for mobility
Have the most convincing feign death

There is no reason to use a bow as surv currently. Even in pvp surv has enough ranged damage as is inbetween setups with serpent sting, kill command, chakrams, bombs (typically use these during setups though), and aspect of the eagle.
Plus you can’t use kill shot with out a melee wep as surv and the best pvp covenant being venthyr means if you use a ranged wep your locking yourself out of your best damage.

Careful does not take much for the Dev’s we have now to put dumb\bad ideas into place…
This could be in the next patch…

why bring surv into this? blizz doesnt ever admit to any mistake. end of story. they always just double down and make more pain. EGO is strong with ion.
