Blizzard whisper scammers are at it again

Hello, not sure where to post this. I tried to right click on the name to report them in game, but I had no such option.

On this toon, Dasserlond, at 8:27 Ravencrest realm time, I received a whisper from a toon named Blizzard. The whisper is as follows:

08:27 [Blizzard] whispers: [Blizzard Administrator] GM: We depth investigation abnormal account. Please visit: (scammers URL) confirm that you are the original owner of the account, otherwise we will suspend your account.

I received this whisper twice. Peoples should be made aware that scammers are at it again. I know Blizz has been able to put up a notice about this in the past on the launcher, maybe they could do it again? I couldn’t stop to report the name right then as I was in a raid. By the time I was out of the raid, I didn’t have the option to report the name in game.

Edit to remove scammers URL.

It’s best to report this asap, but it’s conceivable the account has already been reported and squelched already.

If that happens send a screenshot and details in an email to hacks@blizzard.com. =)

You can also send other instances of cheating to them at that email with videos and screenshots.

And I have barely seen any of those kind of spammed since like cata maybe. That’s bonkers.

Thank you. Will keep this for future reference.

Yw they never respond so don’t fret it if they don’t email you back. It’s more of a “send it here and we will look at it” kind of deal.

That’s ok, as long as someone of importance is notified about it. I really don’t need to chat with them about it, lol. Just need them to take the info and do their thing to remove the account.

I would also recommend editing your post and removing the URL so you aren’t advertising for them here.

What’s really cool now, is you get these when they action an account.

You get those for language/ spam they still send you the mailbox ones for cheating.

I have a druid with 4 pages full in her mailbox. They are going to expire soon though.

Here’s the official support article on the subject.

(There’s a selection pulldown on that page. Select "Chat’ to see the facts about what happened in your case.)

Blizzard doesn’t message you in broken English.

Their GMs also have an icon, on their name, that identifies them as a GM in game.

An example from an earlier thread on the subject:

Please do report those.

If you can’t - chances are good they made a character -spammed, and immediately deleted it. That’s ok, they can run, they can’t hide

To send a message like that, the chances of it being a hacked account are very very high. So you are also helping someone get their account secured so they can’t abuse it any longer until it gets recovered.
