Blizzard: stop trying to find the right answer

There is no right answer anymore for server balance. You’ve waited too long.

From you post, you come across like you don’t want people to be mad at you. But, at this point, no matter what you do, somebody is going to be unhappy. That’s just how it is. Why you didn’t see this coming I don’t know. Plenty of you either play the game or used to play it. I’m sure at least some of you helped create the mega servers in retail by buying transfers back in the Cata or MoP days.

Right now, you can’t think about people being mad. You have to actually be an authority figure and impose some kind of order. You say you don’t want to do mergers? Fine, then connect the realms. You have to do something to fix the issue. You don’t have months to “gather feedback” anymore. People have been talking about this for months already.

Bottom line: action needs to be taken if you actually really care about the issue. And it’s too late to find a good solution. All you can do now is choose the one that you think is the least bad.

A MMO requires one to be proactive, not reactive. This means everything they need to do needed to be done up front. Now it’s like trying to plug holes on a boat after it’s already sunk. I said on the first day that realms needed faction caps and that transfers should not allow players to transfer to a side that is already majority for the realm. But Blizzard had a “we don’t give a damn what anyone does” mentality, enabling the narcissistic playerbase to ruin damn near every realm.

The best they could do is open up free transfers with a totally moronic realm list. Many mediums aren’t on there while highs/fulls are on there instead. Mediums that have since become low have been left to rot because they aren’t updating the list. They haven’t even posted in the thread since then, displaying the same shovelware mentality which they have with every issue, and indeed the game itself. Note that in their sycophant (community council) index, most of it and its users/threads/posts are for retail.

This is especially true for one that’s faction based.

As for faction queues, I don’t know if that would have worked. Would you have rolled Alliance to skip the queue? Again, I don’t know what the answer is, but I do know that it’s too late for “woulda, coulda, shoulda”. Right now, the need to determine the solution that will lose the least amount of players and just do it.

server merges are a sign the game is dying though… it’s bad publicity.

Then connect them

No need. Not every realm is horde dominated. My realm actually has more alliance.

“But if your plan was in place, people would have spread out more evenly. The PvP realms are 60/40 Horde.”
-The total population of the game isn’t skewed enough to justify a lock if it were evenly spread. The problem is that narcissistic players do not want to evenly spread. They want to dogpile 1 realm and leave the rest to starve. That is what why restrictions needed to exist. It would not stop you from playing horde. It would have just stopped you from dogpiling Mankrik or Faerlina.

“Not really, our server is more 50% on each side. But we always could get more people to come here.”
-Only one side can be over 50%, not both.

But if your plan was in place, people would have spread out more evenly. The PvP realms are 60/40 Horde.

Blizzard even in the beginning there was no way they could have gotten it right given human nature. Every decision they made would have been wrong in some way.

Not really, our server is more 50% on each side. But we always could get more people to come here.

At this point doing anything is better then nothing……

Pvp servers combined without the RP-PVP Server is 64/36.

Im sure you think its fine but having a server with 23,000 more horde wont be fun.

Instead of all the Alliance having to sacrifice something why dont we do a random faction change on this imaginary server so that 14% of the horde just become Alliance and are forced to stay Alliance and then lock the server.

Curious how that would make those 14% feel to balance the server, but im assuming everything is ok in your book as long as someone else is the one having to sacrifice.

Doing nothing is better than anything.

If you dont like your server then pay your $25.

Even if this was their choice, that would be fine as long as they just tell people.

I mean they havent said it for classic so you got them their, but they have said it for retail that Faction Balance and Server Balance are a player created issue.

Id expect no less from these progression throw away servers.

Then they could have just said that in their blue post. The fact that they didn’t should mean that they’re looking at a solution. I hope, for the sake of the game, that they haven’t put this post out there only to default to “it’s a player made issue”. The game would collapse at that point.

Game wont collapse, people would just xfer to a mega server.

Im not sure what server youre on but i waited to xfer, this was my first set of xfers all of Classic and TBCC.

Gotta wait for the mega servers to be known then pay 1 time.

In MY opinion wow is a very cheap hobby, its like $190/year to play this game as much as you want, even if you were to xfer 4 toons you would of only paid $290/year for this year…Pretty cheap hobby and price to have a server that will last all through TBCC and WOTLK Classic.

I rerolled onto Pagle and Mankrik back in April of 2020. I’m good server wise.

But, really, most people aren’t as addicted to the game as they were 15 years ago. That scenario I laid out would be terribly disrespectful and would cause a lot of people, especially those people on those smaller realms, to just walk away.

If people want to play they will play in my opinion.

$25 is a small price to pay.

I just dont hold Blizzard responsible i guess for what players do.

While they didn’t cause it in the technical sense, they let it happen.

As for the cost, think about what you just said. It’s a cheap hobby. So it attracts people who may not have a lot of money. Combine that with the fact that a significant number of players have more than one max level toon, and the costs shoot up pretty fast.

Don’t worry my friend, not only did they stop trying to find the ‘right’ answer, they stopped trying to find any answer all after their PR stunt post. Instead, they will usethat dev time to increase mtx revenue in retail. I’m sure it will be some stupid looking mount or companion
