Blizzard should give us a vote on the next playable race

I want playable Sporregar

No. They should not put story developments in the players’ hands. Races are a significant part of the story, not something that can be added independently of it like DLC characters in other games, they take far more effort to add than a mount, and they’re certainly not going to be decided by an online or in-game poll.

Like I said before, race discussion after Legion is too incendiary to leave new race additions up to the people who want everything. At best, you’d get a choice between more subrace-style allied races, not any of the races with unique skeletons that people actually want. If they did the latter, then the losing teams couldn’t be trusted to not raise hell over the results when a more “basic” race inevitably wins the vote, doubly so if both factions got a race each: Alliance would complain that they got vrykul over sethrak, Horde would complain that they got ogres over naga, arakkoa, or whatever other races they want.

I am not sure Blizzard knows how to run a poll that cant be easily manipulated.

Yep and I hope those people’s sauces never stick to their pasta ever again. May they also have bad coffee for the rest of their life. May they stub their pinky toe on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Right? :joy: I remember “the playerbase” voted for Grimrail Depot even though it was not fun on M+, so it was obviously some sort of troll-vote

Also doesn’t help that there’s no election integrity (at all! :flushed:) for these forum polls/votes, so any random dude can just cycle thru 10 forum toons (for example) and commit vote fraud to “pad” the vote-counts for one vote choice or another… so even though he is just 1 player and should only get 1 vote, vote fraud allows him to cast 10+ “votes” on the poll by cycling thru a roster of alts

Lol! I came here to say this is how we get playable Grimrail train engines as a race.

Tooty McToottoot
Thomas McTrainerson
All the Little Engines That Could (kill the bosses)

The player base (or any assorted online group) can’t be trusted!

Votes on 50 different alts for Woodgnomes. They are like Mechagnomes except with wood.

Simply do not have a High Elf option of the four. Problem solved.

That’s an excellent idea OP.

There’s no doubt that Ogres would be in game if that happened.

I vote for Arakkoa race! I have a couple Skeksis names reserved for some years now.

It’s obvious we can’t be trusted to make good decisions when given a modicum of power so we probably shouldn’t vote on a new race.

Doing it for mounts and other random collectibles makes sense. They are, after all, just random collectibles.

However races are playable, have gameplay implications, require lore to make sense, and are timed with when they are added to the game to make sense. Random votes cannot solve those things.

So, no.
Terrible idea, unrealistic, and would just lead to folks whining (way more than folks already do on these forums). Although I will say one thing…

The fallout from folks actually playing some of the more spammed race suggestions would be hilarious. Since folks would have to accept things like “If Ogre, you get kicked” due to being too big for doorways and how much you’d be obscuring. It’d essentially like a player became the walking talking incarnation of the tightest places from the Grimrail Depot dungeon!

Yeah, exactly.

I think that would quickly become “just give us all four”

Then we could vote on names and name them all Racey McRaceface

The best argument against any kind of democratic vote in our game is to spend a few minutes talking to the average player.

Nah you’re not gonna get me to make that mistake again

When you let players vote on things you end up with Grimrail Depot M+.

Yeah, we already have 4 kinds of elves and dang near two of everything else (3 when it comes to dwarves). If we get a new Race in the game, we should make it something that actually makes sense, and could fit the WoW fantasy theme.

Half the size of Gnomes, constantly in flight, and could have different regional appearances. Some pale, some blue, some green, and some brown. They fit the magic caster role already, could wear cloth gear, use daggers / wands only, and feel similar to the Fae in Ardenwealde, but far more dynamic and cute in appearance. Best part, No mount needed, and one of their racials (passive) would be to leave either a trail of sparkles, fire, frost, or mist behind them as they fly.

Horde sprites?

If that’s what they want, why shouldn’t they have it? Because you think your tastes are more elite? This ain’t mythic.
