Blizzard said they would "prefer that healers spend their time healing" during an interview with Morgan Day

That’s the way it seems. Threads criticizing DPS and tanks get taken down. Threads criticizing healers stay up. :woman_shrugging:

I’m not running the rules on the forums

That’s true. But it’s not the only thing that makes a good DPS player. The ability to use their full utility kit in an impactful way, how quickly they adapt to new fights/mechanics, how good they are at following mechanics with minimal impact to their rotation… I find all of these thing to be important components of play in addition to the ability to show off big numbers in optimal conditions.

If the thread was taken down then I don’t think it should have been. But like you say, neither of us make the forum rules. :dracthyr_shrug:

We also don’t know why it was taken down (if it was, idk)

When you play a class you should try use all the buttons in order to benefit the group. Sure you can only heal but you shouldn’t expect to not be kicked from the group if that’s the case

Very similarly DPS that dont interupt or die to basic mechanics or dont use defensive and die also get kicked
Tanks that cant stay alive or maintain threat, pull too little get kicked

Even content you WANT to do isn’t content you want to TAKE LONGER. I really, really don’t think people are running dungeons for the mid-dungeon storyline, but instead for the loot at the end, quest objectives, and other spoils.

This isn’t about ‘fun detected’ it’s about ‘be better’. It’s not a crime to want to try and do better with every iteration and if people are going to join your team, that they’re willing to pick up their own slack as well.

this 100% I want to quickly get my loot and log off and do something else . Time is valuable

Well certainly by the time I’m doing my weekly M+ at any rate. The first time I run dungeons I’m usually going in with my guildmates who are also playing the expac for the first time and that first trip does involve quite a bit of rose-smelling. But the story isn’t quite as interesting 3 months later.

I’ve never understood the criticisms of mythic+ from people that want to take their time and explore. It’s like we’ve done these dungeons hundreds of times and there’s nothing to see. Not only that but a good chunk of the shadowlands dungeons were just reskins of outdoor content.

It’s why I like shorter dungeons. Less time to waste

And if your group as a whole wants to take a pause for screenshots or such, then yeah, by all means, take it slow. But that’s because you’re deciding as a group before you roll into the dungeon.

If I do LFD/LFR, I’m trying to fill every GCD I can to make sure I’m making the group as efficient as I can. I do this because I respect the group’s time, and ask that they respect mine in the same way.

nobody even needs loot from heroic dungeons, legit everything gives you better loot right now, why even run then? Virtually nobody needs gear thats even running these, and it doesnt provide much gold either. But youre busy playing wow like its a loot grind simulator, this isnt keys on diablo, you can have a good time with people while you do stuff.

Ill agree most dungeons in shadowlands are trash, but i enjoyed most dungeons like they were the first time after 100 runs even in many xpacs. if that extra 3-4 mins of dungeon is so grating, i can say with certainty you arent enjoying playing wow, youre enjoying receiving loot. You can legit go to any number of games that are just better at it than this, including diablo.

Listen, the point of the matter is simple; support players can do something more useful during their dead GCDs than nothing. What that something is will depend on the situation they’re staring at. Is the tank at a high enough HP amount to take the next hit or two without dropping, and there’s no immediate damage incoming that needs to be healed or mitigated by the group as a whole? Toss out some DPS. Shadow Word: Pain is instant-cast, there’s really no excuse. And if you’re worried about losing a GCD to a Smite, your talent gives it a chance to give you a free and instant-cast Flash Heal.

Your available GCDs are your decision-making opportunities. Doing nothing is probably the worst possible choice the player can make.

Its an example. the moment you enter M+ you better be playing ur spec correctly or you are getting kicked

100% tbh the length of s4 dungeons were all good except for lower Kara. S3 I didn’t like theater of pain, spires, or de other side.

Right because people like you are gonna run the +3 keys in content you dont like for rewards you dont need just so you can police healers. See how absurd that sounds?

Like GTFO here, nobody is going full tilt in those low level keys unless their wildly undergeared somehow. Now im all for going full tilt min-maxing high level content, even higher level keys, but its clear you cant see beyond yourself and your own ego that lower level content doesnt need absolute sweat from players.

ive only done a couple of those cause they are pretty bad. Out of the dungeons ive done, i can confidently say they are the worst in wow’s history imo. id trade them for bfa dungeons any day.

Theater of pain wasn’t bad, just a bit long. Spires was 40-50 minute dungeon at times depending on the group and de other side was also around 40 minutes

at what key? that sounds boring

Its upto you. But when i join or lead a group i dont put up with this. I have left multiple keys where someone isnt interupting and where heals arent dpsing.

Again, we’re not saying ‘be perfect’, we’re saying ‘do your best’. If your best is leaving GCD gaps open, I’ll pipe up and ask if you can get out an extra cast or two. I’m not gonna be rude about it, there are several reasons why someone might let a GCD die; they’re unfamiliar with the role and get overwhelmed with indecision, or maybe they’re not confident in their reaction speed or maybe they don’t think the team will mitigate as well as they might so they’re pocketing a heal, or whatever else. The point is to find out the problem and help overcome it.

except if content is tuned high enough, there’s no spare globals that healers can comfortably use for dps.
