Blizzard said they would "prefer that healers spend their time healing" during an interview with Morgan Day

Yes, I love it when things get tight. It makes things much more exciting.

at this point i think its safe to say the 0 dps healers are basically the flat earthers of wow.

shadowlands had a lot of it in the earlier seasons
that unavoidable pulse damage. that’s why players were forced to use avoidance at the highest level (for those that don’t know).

there’s a skill cap with that style of play that i doubt many ionlyhealandys could handle.

plus i don’t think anyone liked those mechanics tbh :100:

That’s not true at all. There can never be enough DPS and more is always better. Even if you are going to time a dungeon with just DPS DPS’ing having extra allows wiggle room for mistakes or +2ing the key.

In contrast, healing has an end-point where it is not needed and leaves time to DPS.

I generally try to toss in some dps if there is no healing to do in the moment.

However, if the success of the run hinges on the healer damage output that run has already failed.

My role is to heal damage not deliver damage.

Thank you for your explanation. As a fury warrior i will refuse to hit bloodthirst or enraged regen as i have now seen its the healers job to heal me, not my own. If my life hinges on me hitting my buttons, then the healer obvious has failed and deserves to get flamed for not healing me good enough.

You are welcome.

Why do some people want to stand around and do nothing?

Is it fun to just stand there for multiple GCD’s waiting for a health bar to move?

Why would not want to throw out some DPS if no one needs healed?

You’ve got to use your noodle my friend.

Everyone would prefer you to heal versus damage when people are injured.

It’s that time where you’re doing nothing

You guys will never give this up. Just stop with the constant attacks on healers

no, I will not stop telling people they should contribute to the success of the group regardless of their role.

Pretty much this, you’d think that it was pretty obvious. How this is any sort of discussion is beyond me.

I would think so. This healer DPS discussion has been beaten to death. It is nice to finally get some kind of acknowledgement from blizzard on it. Nowhere does it say healers need to be doing damage in endgame content.

Which is what we should be talking about. If the key is taking too long it’s the DPS that aren’t doing enough damage. Somewhere along the lines people have started to blame the healer for slow keys

no. the healers overreacting to the “healers should dps” statements are taking this in ridiculous directions.

most keys are going to be timed, regardless of healer dps. It’s simply a philosophical issue - should a teammate stand around and do nothing for X number of seconds while healing isn’t needed, or should that teammate instead press damage buttons.

the “healers should dps” crowd believes they should press damage buttons. always be casting. If there’s nothing to heal, what do you cast?

at the very tippy top of the key range - yes healer dps is going to make a difference between wins and losses. but in the mid ranges? it isn’t. it’s simply a “are you contributing 100% of the time, or are you contributing 60% (or 70 or 80) of the time, and if it’s the latter, why do you feel you should be deadweight the rest of the time”

Blizzard shouldn’t be listening to someone who puts scarlet letters on idea makers.

Oh, and calling people a terrorist. Can’t forget that. (Context: “I don’t negotiate with a terrorist.” Back in Uldir.)

Conserving mana? Resting and standing ready between heals? Positioning? Keeping an eye out for incoming damage?

If no one is dying and health bars are being topped off, the healer is doing their job. Any damage they do is icing on the cake and not a necessity. Always be casting does not apply to endgame content for healers and can actually cause wipes.

If it takes 20 mins to do a key and it would have taken 18 mins of the healer used their spare global on DPS than 20 mins is the key taking too long.

You have the ability to improve the quality of the group you should choose to do it.

If you can push a 18 key but if thr healer dosing could let you push a 19 key then it is the healers fault you aren’t getting the 19 key

every single healer has 0 cost dps abilities

explain to me why one person is entitled to rest in between heals, but the other four members of the party are expected to go full throttle? these are keys, not dungeon crawlers.

I was going to reply to the rest, but honestly, we are never going to agree on this topic :woman_shrugging: and that’s ok. people are entitled to opinions even when we disagree with each other.
