Blizzard Revives Hardcore Characters Affected by DDoS Attacks

lol terrorists. Big and strong words for script kiddies in 3rd world countries doing this for the lulz.

But I guess everyone is a terrorist now. HC wow guild dying terrorized me deep to my core, I must now join an extremist group to fight back!

You are openly saying you want thousands DDoSā€™d because one guild has a vanity streaming projectā€¦ thatā€™s REALITY.

They can raid all they wantā€¦ just donā€™t tell all the DDoSers when and where theyā€™re doing it and live streamingā€¦ thereā€™s this thing in the REAL WORLD to STOP TERRORISTS and itā€™s called ā€œOPSECā€. OnlyFangs needs to practice that if they want to raid, otherwise, itā€™s OnlyFangs thatā€™s encouraging terrorists to keep YOU AND ME from playingā€¦ wake up. Itā€™s their vanity to stream that makes us suffer, you encourage that behavior? They can raid all they want, keep it between themselves and post it later if they must show the world their raidā€¦ thatā€™s OPSECā€¦ loose lips sink shipsā€¦ you seem to cheer for the Axis powers.

Definitely, the lowest rung of society would NEVER exploit any and all possible perceived weaknesses in the system for an unfair advantage. Donā€™t mind that mythic gallywix went down to hackers twice nope weā€™re all on the up and up over here.

Great. So if the streamers come back together does that mean we get ddos more? Lol

How quickly can a DDOS go from ā€œstart it upā€ to actually seeing effects in the game? Iā€™d have thought that if an encounter starts going badly, people would die too quickly for a paid attack to start disrupting a server. Then the attempted death-dodgers would be out of luck because their death timestamps would be too early for rollback consideration.

who, or what, is an ā€œOnlyFangsā€?

Is this some twitch or youtube persona?

edit: Ok, Iā€™m guessing itā€™s a streamer on twitch based on other posts

As a customer retention strategy itā€™s a good angle. I have no interest in hardcore but I imagine itā€™s really frustrating to lose your entire character because someone else is being a jerk and crashing the servers

Good for Blizzard!

Happy to see them finally act with integrity instead of cultivating bad behavior.

Happy with it and their stance.
.

ā€¦Theyā€™re not committing a federal offense over world of warcraft.

So the lesson here is to play Hardcore when Blizzardā€™s pet streamers are playing. That way if you die while they are streaming, you might be able to get a roll back along with them.

And other things we tell ourselves to reject events that have already happened because it is inconvenient for our psyche if they did. As though this entire debacle didnā€™t start over someone committing a federal offense over World of Warcraft.

Someone living in a country with no extradition treaty with the United States DDOSā€™d the Blizzard servers.

Guess where the population of Only Fangs live?

someone would pay 100ā€™s of thousands, if not millions, of US dollars to DDoS WoW for a classic guild to play a raid?

idk what a botnet charges to DDoS a video game co. like Blizzard, but Iā€™m sure itā€™s not cheap and considering the legal ramifications, why a botnet would even take a job like DDoSing a WoW classic server so guild can play the raid and win it first.

It wouldnā€™t be MS/Blizz going after them, it would be the US government. Thats an international crime.

A good move. HC Classic is the only thing keeping Wow streaming relevant

interesting precedent. now they kinda have to do it at every ddos.
weird.
