Greetings,

Recently, we have experienced unprecedented distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks that impacted many Blizzard game services, including Hardcore realms, with the singular goal of disrupting players’ experiences. As we continue our work to further strengthen the resilience of WoW realms and our rapid response time, we’re taking steps to resurrect player-characters that were lost as a result of these attacks. Unlike the many other ways characters can die in Hardcore, DDoS attacks are an intentionally malicious effort made by third-party bad actors, and we believe the severity and results of DDoS attacks specifically warrant a different response.

In the future, Blizzard may elect – at our sole discretion – to revive Hardcore characters that perish in a mass event which we deem inconsistent with the integrity of the game, such as a DDoS attack.

Our broader stance on character restorations or death appeals has not changed. To be clear, we do not intend to revive characters which have died due to server disconnects, lag spikes, gameplay bugs, or any other reasons. Blizzard Customer Support cannot assist with issues related to characters who have died on Hardcore realms.

i think it is great but kinda flawed too, they should resurrect all characters affected for game bugs too, have seen some videos of many warriors dying for disconect only for using the warrior rush

Blizzard has stated that it’s at their discretion. So it’s 50/50 whether you get a rollback.

I keep hearing about it and even streamed mention it but I ah won idea what is it? Is like like a guild for the steamers ? Coz a lot of them seem to play on that guild? What’s so special about it?

Keeping track of people who’ve died to bugs and regular disconnects is way more difficult though.

Yupe. It’s pretty much a guild of streamers.

They currently have some rules like no outside help, no AH, … etc.

Makes sense, sounds good to me. In a perfect world with infinite resources they would also revive people that died to bugs and other kinds of crashes, but I understand the problems with that.

I feel like it’s a good decision to revive characters lost due to a ddos. I am surprised as they have never done this before. Also, i would think it is going to greatly increase the number of tickets they get requesting a revive

I wonder if it’s actually possible to time it that accurately such that you can trigger a DDOS just as your raid is going down.

We’re already in the world where people chance federal crimes over a video game, the DDoS already happens and history shows very little risk in doing it unfortunately.

Streamers aren’t regular people like you and me. They’re the wealthy elite of online gaming. They get special treatment.
