Official event support, simultaneous world-wide launch of raids, in-game leaderboards, removal of superfluous casual-friendly systems that pose barriers to an even playing field…
Oh wait, none of that is true. The entirety of World First Race is completely unscripted and simply something players themselves enjoy doing because it’s fun.
Esport is such a dumb buzzword, lol. Stop parroting Asmongold.
There’s literally an E-Sport tab at the top of the forums. MDI exists. Arena Championship Exists. Race to World First is literally a title that Blizzard labeled and named for those going for world first raids, and it’s something they’ve advertised and marketed for over a decade. Sorry to clue you in, but it’s not a “buzzword”. I mean heck, there are even websites with “esport” literally in their web address that report on the World First Race. Sometimes you gotta call that hand-shovel in your gardening tool kit a spade.
The term Esports is tricky. The Race is an organic community event and it isn’t structure to be a perfect equal race with time zones and patches being a factor. It’s a great community event and they love it and want to support it but Esports is a tricky label to apply because it lacks the structure, template and rules that are standardized.
I work in a sales adjacent position and the first thing I noticed since playing WoW is how the mindset of the people who defend this game isn’t about growing the game but maintaining what they have.
Which I don’t care who you are; No employee or potential recruit ever wants to go to a company that’s cut cut cut cut.
So, to you, it is fine if one goes weeks and weeks without getting a weapon drop from raid/M+/vault because “it is only solo players” who are complaining?
Get real, some of the ones complaining are those of us that want a way to counter bad luck or get gear in the slots we need to be of actual use to our groups. Earning a complete set, weapon included, of the same ilvl, even if it is lower then normal, would at least be a step tin the right direction.
Yes, cus the words of Ion Hazzikostas can be trusted. Just cus Ion doesn’t think it’s an e-sport doesn’t make it not an e-sport. The man literally thinks we can’t find vendors and that the game’s design doesn’t influence player behavior. He’s not a professional game designer, he’s a lawyer. That’s why his systems are designed around what he doesn’t want us doing, not what he does want us doing.
That’s funny, because I’ve known them personally. People who only wanted to raid and M+ and literally quit the game because Blizzard kept putting in solo “chores” they had to do in order to raid.
You do realize that has happened to me right? I was using a 239 pvp bow to raid mythic until I was able to get the leggo bow right? I didn’t get a 252 weapon till two weeks ago. My rogue is still using a heroic non Sylv dagger. Mage is using the heroic kt weapon.
Due to the ease of current solo content in this game you have a trade off. This time it’s not having a weapon.
Blizzard is not LITERALLY its own game designer. But I’ll assume you meant Ion, despite using literally so confidently.
And no, he doesn’t. His words are meaningless. He just says what he thinks the person he’s talking to wants to hear. He’s been doing it for years. If he says the sky is green and made of cheese, that doesn’t make it true.
If he says an e-sport isn’t an e-sport, that doesn’t make it true. It just makes him wrong or a liar.
Solo content that I’d be willing and able to do to get things I need for group content. I am not asking for that great of weapon, just something that could be better then what I have yet worse then the content I am running, like if I am doing normal maybe that -5 ilvl or between LFR and normal.
Also, a trade off? most of the time that trade off comes in the form of lower ilvl then heroic, let alone mythic, don’t expect people to be happy if they suddenly are getting less, I.E. no weapon, in the name of “trade off”.
Thanks for personally insulting me because what I have to say disagrees with what you think is true. The person was my brother, we do not always get along and he played WoW years longer than I did, so we were never at the same level.
Preach publicly complained about all of those grinds on his channel, and he is a mythic raider.
Yes, that’s two people. Maybe that’s not a majority, but it’s also not something I made up.
The fact that you would descend to personal insults over a video game argument is a testament to your character. Your comments in this thread are a prime example of the kind of elitist, condescending attitude that people find so off-putting in this game.
