I think that’s kinda why the wow token exists, they know they can extort smaller audiences liek turkey and ukraine since it wont hurt as much if they lose playes there, but if they raised the NA sub price to say $20 a month, they’d lose a massive chunk of players.
So instead they implement wow tokens, and then people buy the tokens to make gold, then players thinking they’re getting a free sub spend gold to buy wow tokens for game time, when in reality this whole transaction is netting blizz an extra $5 a sub. (or an extra $5 for every 15 spent in the bnet ecosystem)

They have to update the prices eventually especially when the conversion rate was obviously not lining up. If they let the conversion rate drop too low they probably would have to just cancel the service all together.
Ultimately, they still technically are paying less for the service than we are when you do the conversion. And that’s after the increase.
