BLIZZARD: Put the portals back. Good grief

It’s a big friggin difference because the portals in Shrine are gone too.

Seriously Blizzard what possessed you to do this, and then lock all the portals up in SW and Org? How obscenely power-trippy do you have to be?

You can edit my posts and prune all the words you want but if I had done something this underhanded and power-obsessed, I would expect people to tell me I sucked for doing it.

Clearly the same is true for the people that foisted this bull on the players.

Just. Put. Them. Back!

Put them back with the same stupid code that allows toons of all makes, models, and levels to use them.

You guys are babies for cutting off travel like this.

Silly, power-tripping, babies.

Someone please refresh my memory on why they needed to remove them?

This is why i look forward to Classic and giving back mages a desired ability.

Lol why is this such a huge issue to everyone?

I love the new portal system. The addition to Ashran made getting alts their garrisons without doing that ridiculously long Tanaan intro. It’s amazing.

If the removal of portals that suuuuper don’t matter bug you enough to not play, that’s a whole lotta your prob.

If you can’t get yourself to play this game over the portals than you might as well just quit.

You clearly have other hidden agendas, this portal nonsense isn’t a legit reason to stop playing and I call anyone’s bluff who says it is.

Caverns of Time portal is apparently being returned shortly.

Karazhan’s portal was put into play for Legion due to the requirements for questing there. There wasn’t one before Legion so it’s not like it was an old one similar to CoT. I haven’t noticed its absence.

You speak to a mage in the Mage Tower in Stormwind to be ported to Blasted Lands. I presume there is a similar one for Horde?

As for the Shrine, its only mildly annoying. I used it and then flew somewhere else from there. Now I use the current portal location and fly somewhere else from there. Not a lot of difference really.

There are far more annoying things in BfA to rant about in my not terribly humble opinion.

:upside_down_face:

Wow! You go to Blasted Lands every day, and you go to Shrine every day, and you go to Kar every day, and you go to CoT every day. In fact, you go to each of them several times every day, so even though they are all in flying zones, that is too much time for you! You really need portals!

Wow! The other 99.9999% of players DO NOT go to those places every day.

I guess Blizzard is really odd, catering to 99.9999% of players and totally ignoring the important needs of 0.0001% of players! How dare they!

It’s not the worst change Blizzard has made over the years…easy to get use to. Though, have to admit, moving the portal to Pandaria kind of killed the mood for me…not sure why.

They will probably do this but want to charge $2.99 each time you use them.

Blizzard wasted development labor on removing old portals. Then, oops, they wasted Dev effort trying to figure out who needed them, so they can be there for people on quests. (Still trying apparently because it’s hit or miss now), then they wasted Dev effort putting back in a portal they could have left alone.

None of which was needed for them to put in a new portal room.

They could have been doing better things for you with that time instead of giving players that like legacy content a hard time.

Probably exactly their intent.

It takes more shards/instances/computing resources to support people that are spread out than it does when they’re all packed neatly into fewer zones.

I bet they want to discourage people from going to old less populated areas because they’re going to steal a bunch of computing resources from retail to support classic soon.

Theoretically. But in practice, generally “no”. And the alliance side portal mage is probably a “special case” thing too, and if you mess it up, it goes away forever.

Yeah this seems to be broken.

Well, it’s not back yet and who knows when 8.2 will be. Could be the fall at the rate the game has been progressing

:scream: Quiet! Don’t give them any ideas!

Two reasons were given. The blue said that it was to make the world feel bigger. The lead dev. Ion said that it was because they didn’t want new players to be hanging out in New Dalaran three years from now.

This is a big issue because it didn’t need to happen and it forces us to either spend more time traveling vs doing what we came online to do. Their time would have been better spent creating new content so that the game wouldn’t be such a ghost town.

Also, this is just one more straw added to a bunch more straws.

Yeah, that tanaan intro has gotten super stale.

Or…

Set normal hearth to Shrine
Dalaran Hearth already takes you to Broken Isle, and Portal Room

NPC in portal room is suppose to take you to Blasted Lands, but he is a little buggy atm for some.

CoT next patch

Lack of portals is the thing that saps your motivation to play?

It’s why I didn’t have my garrison set up on several alts. I didn’t want to waste an hour doing the intro.

Now you just take the port to Ashran, fly to garrison and accept garrison quest. It’s amazing. Finally setting up my garrison on this toon. Level 3 and working on level 3 buildings at the moment. It’s actually super fun!

Didn’t know why we could skip Legion assault, but had to do Tanaan. So glad. It was so freaking hard to solo on my arcane mage. Other classes can waltz through it

Sounds like you need to take a break anyway tbh.

Use the portal under the timeless isle. It ports you to the top of a mountain in Gorgorond I think. Then you can just fly to the landing spot for your faction and start.

EDIT - HURRY THOUGH. I just said portal in a post. I’m sure it’ll be removed ASAP.

Can’t go wrong there. Combined w/ Engineering wormholes I barely notice the portals are gone.

@OP, if portal removal is killing your will to play that seems pretty silly but I guess you could always level a mage or quit the game.

Edit: That seemed a little harsh and I never like reading that ‘just quit’ response… I was more saying swapping your main is better than just leaving entirely.
