Warmane being the most popular private server has two realms
One eternal realm with lots of bis characters that are 12 years old and also a fresh realm that restarts seasonally in which you can transfer your character to the eternal realm
If you compare the population of the two the eternal realm has 10-20x more population.
I know it’s hard for yall to understand that a lot of players love doing icc for 12 years non stop on their 10+ bis characters . But this is the case , log in to warmane and go to dalaran or icc , you will see a lot of activity and players everywhere much higher than 90% of our realms.
Have u seen the subscriber numbers for most of these private servers. They typically don’t have over 1-2k subscribers at most. Some are in the less than 1k range. I highly doubt blizzard really concerns themselves over such small numbers.
How do you think the “most famous” server out there lasted for so long and has harvested so much money out of selling BiS items on their cash shop?
Blizzard can’t touch them
It’s already proven that people will still play certain expansions despite whatever others think or say
As garbage as their p2w shop is and the community is sketchy in terms of friendlyness and raid pug there’s no way to deny their success if they lasted for this long…
But again, not the first and last time this classic team will make the wrong call anyway… look at what wotlk become after sod opened. Skeleton crew on wrath and probably it’s 1-2 guys…
I am starting to give up zinobeia. It is clear that blizzard, and the pro cata classic players, don’t like us pro permanent wrath classic players. So why bother trying to beat a dead horse anymore.
You try and tell them reasons as to why blizzard should keep at least one permanent wrath classic server up. But they don’t agree. So why bother.
Well. Now blizzard won’t provide era versions of the expansions. So I don’t really see a problem with private servers anymore.
You have people, like me, who want to play permanent wrath classic from blizzard. But who cares. Blizzard doesn’t care. You pro cata players don’t care and don’t agree on average that a permanent wrath classic realm should even exist anyways.
Some say they don’t care if they happen or not, but add a pessimistic view on it. Like oh, you aren’t gonna get them bro. Ok. I hope we do though.
This is what I am saying. The wow token would still exist on permanent wrath classic realms, and the wrath classic players playing on those realms would still buy them.
I know I would.
Honestly, it is because blizzard is insanely greedy. Which is just every american company at this point.
Take wal mart for example. One of the wealthiest families in america. But 90 percent of their employees are living off of supplemental income and goverment funding programs. Like wal mart can’t just pay each employee 2 bucks more per hour to prevent that. Like that is insane. Oh well, The feds are paying for that I guess.
It just baffles me though. How corrupt and greedy american companies are. And posts like the op here don’t surprise me either. And people who want wrath classic forever are switching to private servers. For one thing, they provide the service that they want. And it’s free.
I kind of wish I joined a private wrath server from 2019 in the beginning. I am just mad because blizzard won’t do a permanent wrath server, and I don’t really want to start over. If I could transfer my toons over from blizzard to a private wrath server. I would. But I don’t think that you can. And I don’t want instant gratification either. And some private servers have nothing but instant boosts.
Like the average classic player would never had paid blizzard a cent if they knew this was going to be the fate of classic. Because cataclysm is cool. But it isn’t classic anymore in my op. It’s a nostalgia rush at best. And don’t get me wrong, there were alot of cool things about cata. But I wish blizzard would just let me do both cata and permanent wrath on a permanent wrath server with a cloning service.
I didn’t play much of wotlk. I loved it back in the day when I played it. But I am going to be playing cata. Cata is really the only expansion that I didn’t play through because of my job. So I’m excited for it. I played it on and off bit when it came out. And enjoyed it then. I don’t get the hate
I just had a really, really good time back in wrath back in the day. And I was really hoping to get a permanent option. Even back in 2010 when cata came out I wanted a way to play wrath classic forever officially. Cata removed so much stuff.
But I mean, cata was fun. I just hope blizzard adds both so I can progress to cata, and have a permanent wrath classic realm to play on also.
I never really hated cata. I just hated the fact that they removed everything. I loved the old overworld alot when it was part of wrath. And quite frankly, while vanilla era also has the old overworld. It just didn’t do it for me. Wrath was just really cool.
I played on warmane prior to classic quite avidly a few years ago. I also went back a couple of years ago to check out one of the wotlk seasonal servers. Most of their active servers were around 700-800 people max. They even had a couple of servers dedicated to other expansions that had numbers as low as 10 active users at any given time. I think there overall subscriber base was in the low thousands, prior to classic launch, which says something for one of the most popular private servers out there.
I think the people like you who would actually play on wrath, or any expansion, era server doesn’t make up the numbers you think it would. Look at wotlk now. The subscribers have continually fallen and keep going down. Nostalgia only last so long before people get bored. Sure there’s some individuals that can beat up the same content for years and be content however if there isn’t enough people for blizzard to actually make profit why would they continue the upkeep on these servers. You can argue they are just another greedy corporation, which I’d agree, but this isn’t a greedy corporation taking away your toys. This is people losing interest and the costs are out weighing the profits. Hence why they are moving it to cata to get those subs back. The people that love classic, and refuse to acknowledge retail, far outnumber the few who would beat wotlk into oblivion and never look at another game.
You do know that you don’t HAVE to give those places any money, right? And more than 5 people want to have permanent era servers for TBC and wrath. It should not be hard to leave up a pair of servers in each region given that you have successfully moved through the whole patch cadence of content before. Allow people to level and re-experience it, give them maybe a year at endgame and then give them a choice to move those toons to live classic and restart the expac server fresh, as people like the fresh experience of leveling together and running through content together. Hell, for all we know, they might do something like Pandaria Remix, or SoD, for each expac. They seem willing to have fun with stuff.
It’s their business model to push content. And with them converting to yearly expansions, plus classic content, they will be pushing harder and faster than ever. Do think they should consider more casual folk a bit more though. Not everyone is subbed to the game 365 days a year, like the hardcore addicts, with millions of gold in bank. Coming back from a break people should have more choice in terms of era content. The wow addicts don’t understand this though. Everyone is supposed to play the game the way they do.
You know this entire classic client was adopted from a pserver’s development team right? Someone made this client and operated on pserver then Blizzard decided to acquire it to save development cost.
