Blizzard Punishing People for Backfilling LFR

Wow. This is a terrible change. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been in a partially completed LFR wing. Seems to hit me most often on healer. Asking people to sit through 30 minutes of extra stuff they’ve already done is too much of an ask.

You’re missing the point. You get stuck re-clearing the bosses from the first run (with no loot or possibility of loot) OR you face a deserter penalty for the second run.

As things currently stand, if you’re going to be punished for backfilling LFR groups, don’t be surprised if people instantly abandon your group in progress when they join since they’re getting punished either way.

And if they do stay for some reason, enjoy less loot for YOU to roll on.

edit: so, it turns out that instantly abandoning the group in progress when you join is currently the only way to avoid the backfill penalty. That action, and that alone, will prevent the deserter debuff.

This is not a real problem. Come in for the last 2 bosses, kill them and requeue. Kill the 1st boss, leave group, get 30 minute deserter buff, go do delves, m0, sign up for a raid, or go touch grass.

People should have the option to not backfill.

Backfilling should give tank bags.

Problem fixed.

This.

You should know what you are getting into ahead of time and incentivised to help out a group that is need of help.

Clearly the only solution is to delete LFR.

None of those are a punishment, you get a chance on loot on every boss you kill.

This hasn’t been the case for years now. I wish people would stop peddling this lie.

this feels like a non-issue. just petty whining. like, oh no, you have to requeue to kill a missed boss SOMETIME THIS WEEK and ONLY sometimes… oh noooo

Backfilling and the queue hiding it was added for a good reason. This is very much a “you think you do but you don’t” kind of thing because you didn’t experience what LFR was like before it existed.

Yea no, it was a asinine change. If i que into a backfilled raid ill eat deserter 100% of the time on bosses i get zero loot from.

It doesn’t take that long to finish an LFR, just do it ya whiners.

This happened to me twice this week. It’s the one positive thing I can say about delves: you can do them with a deserter debuff.

Yep. Either i do delves m0 or m+ or play rocket league for 30m.

All of those are far better options than staying in a raid when i get absolutely zero rewards.

Yep, BOTH of my healers this week got into the raid with the first boss down. Had to requeue and left the second raid after I killed the only boss I was eligible for loot on. I then logged over to my other healer (not realizing my first got a deserter debuff) to run LFR , and… bang! Zone in to the first boss dead again. With another debuff as my reward after I re-queued to get the bosses I missed.

I almost wonder if I ate my own inherited debuff lol.

If you complete a backfilled one I believe you get put into a fresh one the next time you queue.

Then just kill the bosses you need and leave

I don’t know how it is now. I haven’t played a lot of retail in the past five years, just came back for TWW, but the way it used to work was you queue for a segment, and if you join a group in progress, say 2/3, you do those two and on your next queue they guaranteed you a fresh run, then you could leave after the first boss while getting the debuff, but of course it was moot because you’re finished for the day. I thought this was a sensible system, especially when there’s only one wing released.

It will also be less annoying with more wings open.

If you die that 10g is worthless too since you now have to pay for repairs on a boss where you had no chance of loot.

This change is overal one of the worst ive seen added to lfr in many years.

Make loot drop at last boss, problem solved.

Also… Oh great almost all the raid trinkets are on-use… Not like our skill-bar isn’t cluttered enough.
