Blizzard Punishing People for Backfilling LFR

Not in LFR. They took that out back in Cata, because it killed LFR runs after people left, nobody would accept a queue with bosses already down…so you would sit there for 30 minutes waiting for backfills and just abandoning it eventually after wasting all your free time.

huh? backfilling doesn’t force you to repeat anything.

the proper description:

a. when you backfill you miss a boss
b. you have to requeue and hope to not get backfill again
c. you get deserter after leaving the fresh group

I can find something to do / play an alt to avoid the deserter. But someone backfilling should clearly be immune to deserter for entering a fresh.

Now that I think of it the backfilling usually happens when it a fresh new LFR and people are wiping on the bosses and the leader trying to get new people in to finish the LFR wing or Boss. Plus when u done most people will Reque for the next wing as it mostly be a new fresh group that won’t have the bosses down yet as it filling up a whole new group
and the ones that are on the middle boss or end boss in the LFR just Reque to do the one boss or second boss they miss etc or they stay and do the whole wing even if they know they won’t get loot form the bosses they already did just so they don’t tick off the group by leaving.

if you backfill you should get a reward. even if its crests or stones… it’d be even better if you got loot but about any type of reward would fix this.

They should just give you a satchel for backfilling, I would be happy with that😎

They should fix LFR loot by making it work like in m+ mode - that is all loot in a chest after killing the final boss.

Backfilled people would get equal chances for loot from all 3 bosses (even if they killed only the last one). Early leavers would get nothing. Loot ID gets assigned per wing.

Problem solved.

It does not. With this change (that now penalizes you for leaving after killing 1-2 bosses), my intention was to just leave immediately and deal with the penalty right away (I do have alts). I discovered, by doing this, that leaving immediately (i.e. right after you zone in) results in NO penalty, unlike staying for a boss.

The problem is leaving after you kill what you needed.

Fresh raid, first boss down, died on trash on second boss and got wife aggro (came home with ice cream…so priorities you know  ) - came back to them either mid pull on second boss or the third boss.

Left group mid fight. No deserter debuff

Interesting, I happen to be engaging the second LFR boss when Area 52 crapped out at 8 earlier tonight. Thought for sure I’d have a deserter… but I didn’t. Perhaps they’ve changed something.

:+1:

It’s put a huge pause on how I run LFR. I don’t unless I know I have a half-hour to kill, where I won’t be playing.

I haven’t gotten the debuff yet, because I haven’t completed the first boss in the few LFR’s I’ve run. I just didn’t complete it at all. @_@ (2/3 bosses done.)

Funny side is that the LFR issue resolved for myself now, because my important characters have grown out of the gear level range where LFR makes sense.

Hopefully this gets fixed until S2, when LFR becomes important again for a couple of weeks.

Another bug here: desertuer debuff also prevents enterining Nerubar Palace in Story mode. This is unexpected, because Story mode does not include using the finder tool and is unrelated to building a premade group with other players.

Actually adding the Deserteur rework added mode Spaghetti to the wow codebase, and this only for a temporary fix in Ara-Kara, which now became meaningless with the start of S1 and opening of m0/m+. It would be the best to completely revert this patch.

It’s LFR. Not like it is going to take forever to finish the raid. Too much caf?

Way to completely miss the point. I HAVE ALREADY KILLED THE BOSSES, WHY SHOULD I DO THEM AGAIN FOR NO LOOT / NOTHING AT ALL?
