Blizzard please give us time to level death knights before wrath release

Players like myself want to main a death knight, but if it’s just 2 weeks of prepatch (even if we get that). It’s gonna be hard for players that loath questing and are just wildly inefficient (myself).

Am I the only one that feels this way? Maybe I’m apart of a minority. But I would like a longer prepatch opportunity to level in time, even if it were 4 weeks instead of the 2 weeks that would be a world of a difference.

I dislike the legion model of unlocking the new expansion race/class before the expansion actually launches, in the prepatch. Personally I hope they don’t allow Dks until northrend is available, like how it was done the first time.

But if I were a betting man, I would say you’re probably getting them in prepatch.

That said, 55-70 is actually pretty doable over 2 weeks, and I banged out 1-60 in the prepatch this time around. You get 58 for free in the DK starting area, and assuming the exp changes for Wrath are in place, I wouldn’t be surprised if many people are 70 by the end of 1 week of prepatch.

I dunno, prepatch is kinda interesting to run stuff with new talents when it’s not balanced for it, but also… I think 3 weeks is the longest that can stay novel (for me).

But I won’t be playing wrath, so what do I care, honestly.

Oh no, that’s a shame.

I personally am against this. The only part of WOTLK I’m not looking forward to is the over abundance of death knights. I hate the class, and there’s simply too many of them. I’d like to have time to do some 80 dungeons without getting into a heroic group with 4 DK’s and a healer.

Look at how fast the pacing of TBC is. Game hasn’t even been out a year and we’re look at a Sunwell release Late May or Early June.

It would be ridiculous to not let people level DK’s before northrend is released. Blizzard is all about maximizing their revenue cycles.

Worth pointing out that unholy is the fastest leveling spec of any class in the entire game, and blood is probably a top 3 leveling spec in the entire game, behind only warlocks (which use a hybrid mostly affliction +demo build to get dark pact and pet mana regen), and unholy dh.

Also I’m fairly sure tbc era content is similarly nerfed for wrath leveling much as vanilla content was for tbc.

TLDR your can absolutely fly through leveling on a dk when we do get them, even if we’re limited to a week or so. That being said, I’m personally hoping for a full month with them in prepatch… I’d like to get a good shot at some gear so I’m not useless tanking dungeons for a bunch of sunwell geared killers.

They did this for crusade so they’ll most likely do it for wrath as well. Note that it doesn’t take long to go from 55 to 70 in wrath. If you actually prepare for death knight as well (see my thread on it), you’ll get to northrend very fast.

You’ve got a whole expansion for that.

Heroics are capped at 5 so you plus 4 DKs and a healer won’t happen. Especially at 70.

Let’s look at the pros of each situation:

Pros for early access to DKs:
Everyone who is interested in leveling a death knight ASAP can flood the starting zone and Outland 2 weeks early.

Pros for having them available at launch:
Everyone who is interested in leveling a death knight will be flooding the starting zone and Outland while the rest of us are leveling in Northrend, potentially reducing the crowd in Northrend.

I think I’m leaning toward preferring option 2.

Although I agree it would be awesome to level Dk’s in prepatch. This is cringe, inefficiency is a choice at this point.

They will absolutely do it, I never doubted that.

But I believe my statement was “I dislike it”. They’ll do it, but I don’t like it.

If you want to play the new hotness, you should have to make a choice in my opinion. Instead of this prepatch nonsense they started doing in legion. It’s good for everyone; keeps everyone from rolling one right away, splits the population so it’s not crowding the same zones at launch.

Sorry I’m cringe. I just get very distracted easily, and lead a lifestyle surrounded by family and friends along with friends alike online as well. If I get started talking I’m pretty bad at talking and playing at the same time.

But I completely understand that inefficiency is no reason to accommodate a long prepatch for leveling DK’s, and I even said in my post that I’m likely a minority in this point. But I’m just expressing why I feel I would be one to benefit from it, since Unholy DK is something I would be really interested in maining during wrath.

It’s likely that we’ll get some time to level them during pre-patch, as we did with draenei/blood elves. The question is if it’ll be the full time this time around, or if it’ll be shortened.

My guy, they start at 55 and are 58 and change once they’re out of their intro zone. If you can’t make 58-70 in 2 weeks you see doing it WRONG. You can 100% HFP in a few hours including Ramps and Furnace for the quests and if you start it at 58 you’re halfway to 62 on completion.

It’s easy to the point of being academic.

Id hope that we all have that in common. The difference between you and I is that im willing to reduce the time needed to level by being efficient. It’s actually great for saving time so you can spend more of it with your family and friends. A quick addon download can go a long way, maybe a 10 minute youtube video.
