Blizzard, please do something about trust levels

Other than being able to post GIFs, what other things can TL3 do that the rest of us plebs can’t?

Imagine carrying so much about internet privileges that you make a thread about it.

Post pictures, and links to anywhere without having to mess with the link somehow, such as can do a clickable link to petopia without doing something like https://www.wow-petopia.com

it is just a power trip for them.

i’m glad i was able to help you virtue signal here but do you have any actual input on the topic or can i just rely on you to keep bumping my thread

Yeah, apparently those of us who take a break from the forums are gangsta.

Don’t know if I even want my TL3 back, tbh. It’s too much effort for very little gain.

wtf you saying blizz is a very small indie company that can’t afford to make 2 or 3 QoL changes(where is my trust lvl 3 blizz?)

I really wish this meme would die, but I know as well as anybody that memes never really die-desu.

How do you even raise trust levels? I’ve never understood.

The idea when the forums were switched, from my understanding, is that trust levels were a “reward” for certain amounts of activity and good behavior.

So if someone is active when they post, posts helpful or useful information, and does it enough they get more trust.

I don’t know that people should lose TL3 so quickly after becoming inactive, but I do think active people should be the ones who get it. However, if it is based on 100 day cycles that is quite a chunk of time…

Have you gone back and read thoroughly every thread you’ve been in?

The count is shown on GD main page.

I think they should get rid of Trust Levels period. They’re stupid.

Let everyone be able to post links from approved sites. We can still be suspended/banned when we get rabidly flagged but TL’s are not a carrot on a stick nor a reward.

They’re an insulting punishment. They should be removed.

Even with the name questionability the point does stand that people here are insanely fickle or really petty. I’ve gotten forum suspended because someone made a dumb conclusion with some dumb logic. I said “Your logic is stupid and therefore so too is your conclusion.”

He decides to just spam the thread saying “YOU CALLED ME STUPID! YEAH WHATEVER I’M FLAGGING YOU!” even though you can look at it and see I very clearly didn’t say he was stupid but his logic and conclusion were.

Issue is trust levels shouldn’t go away if you get automation suspended because even when you don’t say anything that can remotely be construed as offensive, if people disagree with your viewpoint they’ve shown they will just spam flag your posts as a pack and let automated moderation do its thing.

This was the exact same crap people dealt with during YouTube’s dark ages where they’d just flag raid people they didn’t like the videos of for one reason, video gets shutdown instantly because “Oh well a lot of people in a short time reported it, must be offensive.”

That being said, trust levels are absurdly moronic and they’re no more useful than blue checkmarks on twitter.

I don’t even officially know why I got to lose my TL3. I earned that!
These forums are a total enigma.

There is a sticky post that explains it. Not exactly hard to find

The whole idea of “grinding” for Trust levels as its been implemented here is so over the top tbh.

It makes sense at a surface level. Give users slightly more permissions if they’ve been active for awhile without proving themselves to be untrustworthy.

But that’s ALL it should be.

Literally just:

  • TL1: x posts made, y total days active, account currently in good standing, that’s it.
  • TL2: x posts made, y total days active, account currently in good standing, account has no history of serious offenses.
  • TL3: x posts mode, y total days active, account currently in good standing, account has no history of bad standing in the last 6 months, and no history of serious offenses ever.

Let T1 post text and nothing else.
Let TL2 post links (right now TL2 is mostly pointless).
Let TL3 embed images/videos.

Don’t require likes given or received, don’t require an amount of time spent reading, don’t require a number of posts read, don’t require “trust level maintenance”. You hit the post threshold, you hit the active days threshold, you have it forever until you ruin it by getting your account actioned in a way that would disqualify you from your trust level. At most, require 1 post a month after reaching your current Trust level just to prevent too many “last hurrah” posts from disenchanted players realizing they still have permissions.

And probably most importantly, as OP has mentioned:

  • MAKE IT CLEAR WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR EACH TRUST LEVEL, AND INCLUDE A PAGE SOMEWHERE TO CHECK YOUR CURRENT STATUS.

I would suggest you remove your comments about why you were banned. It’s against the forum rules to discuss forum suspension specifics and as you’ve noted, there are petty people all about.

True, but at this point I really don’t care if some thin skinned dweeb decides to flag my post like a certain dwarf hunter who frequents these forums. Forums have always been a joke anyway, people spend more time crying about random crap here than actually playing the game or making unproductive threads for upvote bait.

Thank you, will do and have a nice day. =)
