I’m a cap weekly 10 games a week floating around 1500. Until recently everyone that queues is in full venge/merc gear and nearly every rogue around this ranking have glaive/s . Every person pushing 1.5k + right now have been sweaty since p1, and since they cant farm casuals anymore they are way lower ranked facing teams that actually try.

I think you’re spot on.

Also I get the impression the season is also shorter than original…

They ought to do the following to help participation…

  1. Cut the cost of the gear (season 4) by 35%
  2. Make S3 armor for honor.
  3. Remove ratings on all items and in place of rating item unlocks give us recolor versions with the same stats; just like MoP elite sets.

Doing these things I think would drastically improve participation in Arena

What about instead of crying about rating requirements you chose instead to try to improve your gameplay so 1700 is not a daunting rating to achieve.

the quality of players at 1700 atm is way higher due to their only being like 1000 people queing arenas with full vengeful gear and they need to compensate for that

Yeah, well arena participation is low in general because the vast majority of the wow playerbase is boomer raidloggers who don’t like to go out of their comfort zones and be reminded that they’re actually pretty bad at the game. There are other contributing factors, like blizzard deciding to make the honor grind excruciatingly painful at the start of the expansion, the 0 rating instead of 1500, etc, but the bare truth of it is that in general classic players don’t care for pvp and Blizzard has never really cared either.

same. I played a lot of original S4 and i dont remember having an issue with having no option for a PVP purple for any particular slot.

Pretty sure you can buy a full merciless set for half price without needing a rating… and if you are struggling with getting 1850+, vengeful shoulders and weapon isn’t going to get you there

Because people want to upgrade their gear… That is multiple slots I do not get to upgrade as a bear even after grinding out the honor and marks for it. I get to just use the s3 stuff for the remainder of the game and thats boring. That’s less armor, less stam, less avoidance, and less threat in those slots that I am required to wear to be crit immune since they do not give us any defense on our tier gear.

Baby boomers are the demographic cohort following the Silent Generation and preceding Generation X. The generation is often defined as people born from 1946 to 1964, during the post–World War II baby boom.

You think a vast majority of the WoW playerbase is 58-76?

Probably a good idea to remove it

Although i don’t think participation is low due to the barrier of entry on gear. people just don’t enjoy tbc pvp i guess. blizz classic seems to attract way more PVE players than private servers, which have a bigger arena scene.

Well as of the PTR right now they seem to follow the system they started with in tbc (putting wep 1850 and shoulder 2000) which was 2050 and 2200 in original BC so maybe they remove rating requirements for offpieces aswell.

I totally agree, I don’t think pvp gear itself is a huge barrier. Yes it takes forever to farm honor but the raids are simple enough that players easily have equivalent (if not better) 1850 weapons and one 2k shoulder upgrade changes nothing.

Tbc pvp itself just kinda sucks… I love pvp and still have fun but classes are far from balanced. Rogues in a while nother expansion…

Rogues are obnoxious in TBC for sure, but honestly would rather fight BC rogues than Cata Rogues who all magically had legendary daggers.

glaives do not compare to the insanity of those daggers

no glaives are a lot worse…glaives arguably can make a bad player good simply by nature of having them while attacking somebody, those daggers were not similar, especially in the context of PvP where bursty kills aren’t really as much a thing anymore.

are we remembering the same Cata expansion?

glaives honestly seem underwhelming at this stage, maybe it gets worse with double 4piece

Tbc has really killed my interest in pvp.

Used to be a huge pvper, but now I could hardly care less unless its doing it with friends. Dunno if it is the honor grind or rather steep and foreboding arena climb while facing the same comps all day, but I am just waiting for WotLK and hoping it will be better. PvP expac my foot.
