First time I heard of this. I like the look, and unit frames look big enough to catch my eye despite being in the corners. I’d need more hotbars though.
Edit: just looked up a video and you can add more buttons. Hmm…

Yeah, the blizzard UI is trash, but the people who still play WoW / read the forums are the players who like it.
The other 9 million players from WotLK moved on to different games with better UIs.
Yes. He’s like Evil Bozo.
Why does it matter to you? Use ElvUI.
I do it because I like more bars and more stuff to move around. And Move Anything stopped working for me. I don’t follow Mythic raiders. I’ve never liked Mythics.
Didn’t the last time they tweak the UI not go over well?
I remember some people about ready to get out the pitch forks and torches over it.
I’ve had the opposite, folks turned off by how dated the default UI looks/limitations.
A lot of people catch on fast with UI addons and the like and enjoy making personalized UI for specs and environments and all sorts of stuff, the flexibility is wonderful especially paired with WA elements.
Of course maybe if its an older person or someone fresh to MMOs in general stick with the default, its all personal taste.
NO!
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
People need stop selfishly trying to change the game to suit their personal preferences instead of having respect and consideration for other players, not to mention the people who actually own, create and run the game.
I guarantee you most of the people saying elvui is ugly have no idea how to actually customize elvui and just go thru the basic tutorial on loadup.
No, I’ve done that and it’s still trash.
I don’t know if I’d make Elvui standard.
I will say O liked Final Fantasy’s concept of moving your UI around in a myriad of different ways though.
Take everything Blizz made and replace it with borderless black windows.
Hideous. I like a UI with some measure of character. Or at least some art, my God.
As opposed to default UI with garbage action bars and important information like YOUR HEALTH BAR, being shoved off into the corner of the screen that requires you to actually focus on it to get the information you need?
The default UI has let you move the player/target unit frames for like 2 expansions now.
You don’t need a gigantic meta-addon like ElvUI to for better unit frames anyway. I use Shadowed Unit Frames personally.
The only addon I use for UI is Bartender to adjust the action bars into a 4 row layout in the bottom mid like I’m used to. You can move the default portrait frames anywhere.
Edit: other then weakauras, but I’d hardly consider that to be a major UI addon and more of a customizable anything addon.
I should probably just learn how to use plater and get rid of it as well as a bag addon. Beyond that the latency and FPS meter is nice, but there are ways to do that.
Honestly while I use Plater I thought the updated nameplates were pretty good (a bit ugly when you make them large).
There might be a difference in functionality (I’ve never used Plater) but I’ve liked KuiNameplates, which look nicer and give you a lot of options.
Gnarly, I already use ElvUI, but now I really want to use it.
I used elvui for years, however recently I went back to the standard ui
I got tired of the bloat and having to mess with it to fix bugs or problems where it didn’t function as it should.
I use a few small side addons like suf for raid/party frames.
I enjoy the simplicity of it
The good thing about elvui is the customizability. If Blizzard just copied the default profile that’d be a significant downgrade over the vanilla UI because default elvui is trash.
But you don’t need dbm or a ui, I use neither, I remember my guild was shocked back in emerald nightmare when we got cutting edge, I play with no addons…
Every boss has tell signs before using signature one shot skills, % hp skills and phases, it’s not hard at all if you pay attention
, On disc GM always would call prep pot 2 seconds before pull, got CE Ghuun had a break an working on Nylotha.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve looked at streamers who use UIs it’s way to cluttered.
To get serious for a moment
The default UI does need some work. It was designed for a classic D&D rpg, and now the game is more of an arpg where having health bars and buffs/debuffs in the corner by default just doesn’t make any sense.
