Just switch to plater. Over my years of using elvui I’ve noticed a lot, and I mean a lot of issues with elvui’s nameplates, namely sometimes the health bars won’t move, cutaway health doesn’t always update either, buff tracking issues galore. among others. Also, plater just looks nicer.
The only thing I don’t like about azeriteUI just yet is that I need to find addons to change the appearance of chat and quest log, they are absurdly big for my taste.
I tried it awhile back and couldn’t get it to display things the way I wanted. I may just have to set out some time and try again. It was far far more important when I was more actively playing my afflock (something BFA has made painful).
In that case I would recommend to look up the Details! discord server as they are for both plater and details, same guy that makes them. You’ll find a lot of people to help you there, should you decide to try it again. In fact, drop in there and message me, mention that you’re looking for Khosumi and I’ll DM you.
I’d like to have it as an optional UI for sure. I use Elvui currently and the less add-ons I have to have, the better. Because with big patches or new expacs, it takes a little bit before those add-ons update. And the default is so bad.
Everytime I try to teach a new player wow and they have ElvUI on because someone one recommends it, I turn it off. It isn’t actually good for learning the game.
Sure if you are top level and want to mutilate your ge–COUGHCOUGH, UI, go ahead. But don’t sic that sht on newbies.
I would much rather have my unit frames by my character and have the UI designed around that, like FF14 or The Old Republic.
The idea of ElvUI being the default UI makes me wretch though. Ugly UI. And it’s based on TukUI, whose author is a RL clown. (Edit: that was years ago mind you.)
Elvui is needlessly complicated for the average WoW player to need.
You don’t even need addons to casually play the game. People see Mythic raiders doing it, and just copy cat them. Often times not even fully understanding what their addon does.
