Blizzard making no sense

Okay I am seriously confused and maybe I shouldn’t be.
Blizzard announced maintenance for this morning from 7am to 8am pst.
I thought cool when I get home around 2 there should be little to no issue logging in…I get home to find out the new expansion doesn’t drop till FIVE pm AFTER a 30 minute shut down… my question is this. Should that not have been done this morning when servers were already down instead of waiting till PEAK GAME TIME to shut down for 30 minutes and then having 1000’s of people trying to log in at the same time ??? Just curious and maybe I missed something and just didn’t see that it was coming at 5pm somewhere

uhhhhhh hmmmm… Well today is Monday, and the time for Maintenance is Tuesday… and the servers don’t go down for xpac launch unless they need to.

I could have sworn it said it was for this morning so that’s my bad thank you for clarifying and was told it would come down for 30 minutes or so prior to launch so again I apologize if the info I was given was wrong

I think you are thinking of M+, they closed event stuff last night, and M+ is closing 30 mins before launch. :>

The new Shadowlands content will become available on all realms on Monday, November 23 at 3:00 p.m. PST (6:00 p.m. EST). At that time, players who have purchased Shadowlands will receive the quest “Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons” to start them on their way through the shattered sky. We’ve collected a few other things to consider before that time, as well thereafter.

WoW’s 16th Anniversary will end at 10:00 a.m. PST on Sunday, November 22.

The Death Rising event will end one hour before Shadowlands launches. All prologue quests and world bosses will vanish at that time.

30 minutes before launch time, Battle for Azeroth Mythic Keystone dungeons will become unavailable.

At 6 EST if you are logged in you should receive the quest to start the Shadowlands content. You need to be level 50 obviously. Also, maintenance is always on Tuesday. The servers will only go down for the xpac launch if necessary (crashes, bugs, too many players, etc).

they will be doing server maintenance(probably 1 hour restarts) all week at the regularly scheduled times. according to a blue post somewhere about launch.

when they flick that switch for expansion the quest will pop up.

im confused at the OP this person had a what 2 months to figured out their time zone to get the correct time for where they live? yet they complain saying they have found out today it launch in about a hour and a half. that is not anyone’s fault but their own. as for the shut down that you have read that timeframe is for tomorrow if you read the date. it said no where that i found it was going to be down today so i feel sorry for you for that it went down.
