Blizzard loves Paladins. Blizzard hates Monks.
It’s funny to see some specs, like the Brewmaster Monk, being the worst tank spec for the third consecutive expansion (in all seasons!). Meanwhile, Protection Paladin, which was bad for just a few days, got two reworks and is now the best tank in the game. It’s amusing to see the stark difference in love Blizzard shows for some specs.
And there’s a problem here: popularity. Blizzard might not pay attention to Monks like Windwalker and Brewmaster because of their lack of popularity. But don’t you agree that if the spec were stronger, it would naturally become more popular? Just remember Shadowlands, when Windwalker was strong because it buffed Rogues, which were meta at the time. Many people were playing Windwalker because of that. If you want popularity, just make the spec viable. Brewmaster is currently unplayable in pugs above +13. If you don’t have communication with your group, it’s simply awful, painful. Meanwhile, for other tanks, it’s like a walk in the park.
You get an instant invite when playing other tanks, but as a Brewmaster, it feels like you’re playing the worst possible DPS and nobody invites you (hello, looks like Windwalker here—how curious, isn’t it?).
Windwalker is currently the third-worst DPS in raids, only ahead of Augmentation and Fire Mage (which, by the way, has two other specs that are ridiculously strong). In Mythic+, it’s one of the worst, if not the worst. And Brewmaster is only decent in raids; in M+, it’s laughably bad.
Blizzard loves some classes (and specs) and hates others.
A buff to Monks would be more than welcome, as would buffs to other classes (and specs) that also need them.
