I am just struggling to see where players will regularly have these 6 second windows of taking no damage and not moving, in a m+/raid setting, to the point the racial will be abused.
Tone it down. I don’t care. I just don’t think its going to effect worthwhile pve as much as people say it will.
Take a warlock gateway, leap across the room and heal back up to full and then jump back onto the boss. This is just one example of how easily exploitable the ability is.
As a dps in heroic/pushing to mythic raiding, I would never get the full heal amount in a raid setting.
Doing any m+ 10 and higher, I can’t imagine a scenario I would regularly need this. Can it help out under a perfect condition niche setting? Definitely.
But I am never seeing these 6 second windows that I don’t need to be dpsing, have the luxury of standing still (raids are incredibly move intensive), and won’t be taking constant periodic damage.
I don’t know why racials are turning into an arms race. The homogenization of racials multiple expansions ago was done to alleviate the pressure of having to play a certain race for preferred content (raiding vs. PvP). Races can never be 100% equal, but these new racials on both sides are head an shoulders above their respective faction races.
This is kind of like the "bring the player not the class message Blizzard pushed…which kind of ended up like the whole #BeBest campaign…hypocritical.
It’s about timing the racial. Yea, if you blindly use the racial with no idea what’s coming up, or what’s about to happen, then the racial is worthless to you.
But a majority of high end players know when aoe dmg is about to come out, and when the best times are to use a move such as that.
Now there IS boss fights such as grong where this racial is worthless, but again, racials such as meld is worthless on most bosses in that raid as well.
The racial Zandalari have currently is powerful in EVERY part of the current game.
There is more than just tanks in the raid you know…
And again, meld is not useful in ANY of those fights, so trying to justify a broken racial off of a spec because a certain boss is not helping your case.
Nope. Tanks are regularly getting hit with dots that can not be removed. If we are going to complain about hypothetical situations that don’t exist in game. /shrug. Knock yourself out. I could come up with hypothetical situations for any racial I am sure.
Of course I know that. its why I also quoted the person i was talking to…that was specifically talking about using it as a tank swap/heal mechanic.
Shadowmeld is one of the best PVE racials in the game. Being able to aggro-reset during boss Berserk is really good. Lots of top-tier progression kills used similar tactics. (Not very recently, but recent enough to still be a thing – encounter mechanics permitting.)
Mechanical spells – used cleverly – are really good.
