The solution is in the OP, it’s so good damn simple it hurts that you people and blizz don’t get it.
And from a fantasy perspective it hurts the spec since it forces a stupid pet where LF completely omits it.
the special part of the irony is their constant appeals to the majority, when they can only speak for the tiny fraction of the playerbase that uses the forums and discord, which are Far from the majority of the playerbase.
the only thing they get right is “This is what blizzard wants” and so its what blizzard is doing. Thats why they cant actually post any numbers or polls to prove their point.

Again, rare elites are immune to all of those things.
Again, having a pet tank so you can utilize MM’s burst AOE. (and again, since Barrage is going away that’s basically dead anyway)
OF COURSE THERE IS ANOTHER SOLUTION. It’s so easy it has already been implemented on hunters for years and on warlocks for years. Pet = lower damage. No pet = you get the utility anyway.
Your suggestions are rooted in designing the spec around people who want to use pets

Pets have been baseline all this time and LW only grants fort of the bear.
Now I know you didn’t read the OP.
The solution is to make LW and pets a choice node, lust is baseline without pet, and LW grants pathfinding, bear fort, and MS on aim shot.
It already grants bear fort on live.
Oh and make LW buff auto shots and steady shot instead of all dmg.

MM will have choices just like BM does. None of them will include pets.
My idea in the OP would make the game play with or without pet exactly the same…
I am very curious what would happen if Lone Wolf was actually balanced so that pets were a competitive choice, rather than being the brazenly superior option to take to the point pretty much every spec build uses it for MM. Would the numbers shift? would people still prefer lone wolf? HM.
