It doesn’t. The original Brutosaur was the equivalent of $600 USD, and players have been begging Blizzard for YEARS to bring it back. This is a compromise. A very good one. Putting this mount on the store is in my opinion what makes the anniversary event the best ever.
Having an optional mount that you don’t need for sale doesn’t make them scummy. It makes you entitled for thinking you deserve it for free.
I’m not buying it and I’m happy for those who do. Stop acting self righteous over something that isn’t going to change your gameplay experience aside from you letting it upset you
Hey you, people buy 90$ skin bundle on valorant or league of legends for decade. People “whale” 10 000s of $ on pay 2 win game all day everyday. So if you’re not happy about a 90$ dinosaur, don’t buy it.
I’m gonna quit responding to you because I have a feeling you’re a troll and I just don’t want to associate myself with that.
Because that was their thread and this one is mine, allowing me to put out my opinion.
I could see the mount being $40. Even $50, hell, I would’ve pulled the trigger on it. $90? In today’s economy? That’s outrageous. The difference between the OG and the new one is that the old one only had an ingame currency price tag. Blizzard didn’t advertise the tokens to players to specifically buy the mount.
This is taking the mount, which, as I said, they “themed” it after the anniversary, it’s very distasteful in my opinion, but alas, that is my opinion.
‘They said on the forum for a game that has a paid subscription and paid expansions.’ Lol, I’m not expecting anything for free. Even if it was allowed to be earned in game like the OG, it’s not free. You pay monthly for it.
If you use gold to buy tokens, you can add them to BNet Balance cash and then use that cash to buy the mount. The reason tokens are scarce is people figured out how to game the system and get a $90 mount for free.
“Everyone who disagrees with me is a troll.” You’re projecting, kiddo.
Throne and Liberty is free to play, compare this to current WoW lmao.
Gonna go spend my time elsewhere, WoW is awful rn.
The real issue with the new AH mount is that it includes a mailbox. This makes it better than the previous one which is like an extra slap in the face to those who farmed and bought it in BFA.
Tokens had infested every aspect of gameplay back then and Blizzard knew exactly what they doing when they placed a coveted, limited-time mount in the game for 5 million gold.
The first store mount was sold in 2010 for $25, which would be about $36 dollars today. That mount had no additional features. $90 for a reskinned FOMO mount that comes with an AH and mailbox (the original didn’t have a mailbox) seems fine. And of course it’s difficult to put a price tag on gloating in front of the elitist players who insisted on gatekeeping mounts in the first place.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to buy it yet but I also don’t understand why there is an issue with it. It seems you aren’t mad that they made the mount and put it in the shop. You are mad at the price tag. I can totally understand that. You make a good point with your expansion/play time argument and I think you are right. Its probably over priced. However, I bet they did this because they didn’t want 90% of the people to have it. They wanted it to seem scare ( I’m looking at 12 right now ) but still make a killing.
I think its nice in a way that when it comes to in game currency the cost for the new one is like 5 tokens? which is less than half of the price it was in BFA. For those that have played the game for a long time but missed out on it or didn’t wanna spend 5-10M have a free way to get it just from playing.
Anyway, I guess I can see why people care but it really sounds like the issue from most people is the cost, not the fact it costs money. However, I bet if it was 50 we would hear the same arguments just maybe not from the same people.
reparations must be made
I think it is quite funny that all the new stuff during the anniversary is coming from microtransactions, while everything old that we already have, is free from the celebration event.
They should have given the dino out to loyal customers for sticking with the game for 20 years. This should not be too many, after the event they could have added it to the shop or something for the rest.
Right now this event is not a celebration, as there are no new rewards and that as a 20th is pretty weak for a company that says it cares about it´s customers.
Then again, maybe playing WOW for 20 years is just not really important for them, they may make more money with new players that pay extra for early access, shop items and char services.
An overwhelmingly LARGE MAJORITY of players have been begging blizzard to give us a new brutosaur auction house mount for years - blizzard finally delivered on that and this is a huge W for blizzard in my book.
I have my bruto and I’m happy
the best anniversary event ever
Did they though? It’s kinda a bug-filled grind tbh.
No one is holding a gun to your head saying you must buy this. It’s not required to play the game. It gives zero advantage over a non mount holder. Blizzard is a business. The goal of a business is to make money.
Not sure the correlation between the anniversary in your eyes being “the best event” to an option store mount for players to purchase destroying your hopes and dreams when they have nothing to do with each other.
No one is forcing the players to get the mount, they will choose that with their own will.
Same with doing the event, many people are choosing not to do it. Who cares. To each their own.
the fact that there are posters who come here and make the biggest stink of optional content/purchases, as if they are being stranglehold into doing said things is just insane.
Such a “HEAR ME HEAR ME HEAR ME, AND MY PROBLEMS WITH XYZ”
Who. Cares. Let people do what they want, and are free to do what they don’t want. whether its the event or purchasing a mount.
The company and brand are tone deaf now. It’s the “Don’t you people have phones” moment all over again, for the anniversary no less. It just shows they’ll nickle and dime us, and create problems to sell us solutions blizzard, not the let’s make fun games and respect peoples time blizzard of old. Just gonna get people to be more apathetic to them is all. Great work
Oh wow another thread complaining about the cash shop mounts. Amazing.
Mounts have been on the shop for years and years,
yet it was only --now-- that you and others think this is detrimental to the game.
Funny that you think this mount isn’t being purchased with gold.
Even funnier is that you think a mount that was originally a gold sink to remove money from flippers who earned their gains from market manipulation is somehow better than Blizzard selling pixels.
The only reason I’m not buying the Brutosaur is because it’s a ground mount. Won’t pay for a vehicle that can’t fly.
