Blizzard has made the best anniversary event ever and ruined it within the same breath

Look, tempers and tensions are high right now. I am one of the many who are displeased about the brutosaur mount but please take the time to hear me out.

Blizzard has put so much effort into showing the love of Warcraft in this event. I enjoy Mount Mania, Fashion Frenzy, the raid is awesome, Time-walking is fantastic. It truly felt like a love letter to the fans, and it was being advertised as such.

Seriously, go look at some of the vendors, the rewards for the event are awesome. Being able to also turn into beloved warcraft characters for a time? It feels fun. Warm. New. Blizzard has put so much work into this patch, albeit bugs aside. I ran original Deadmines, you know how cool that felt? I haven’t done that through LFG since Wrath.

Then today the news was dropped that they were not only releasing a $30 mount pack including mounts that are based off of WC3 races, which in my opinion were probably anniversary mounts to begin with, but they also dropped the “$90 mount”.

Never, have I ever witnessed a company have so many Wins, back-to-back and then be so tone deaf to their players in the blink of an eye.

This mount pack and the brutosaur are an issue with the anniversary. Let’s look at the description of the Brutosaur:

Presenting the awe-inspiring Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur, adorned with a 20th Anniversary themed harness set with gems representing WoW’s expansions. Brave the world of Azeroth on this magnificent Zandalari beast with Morten and Killia, bringing the auction house and the mail with you on the go!

The very event that was promised to the fans is now being monetized EVEN more in a way that feels scummy. Blizzard took a mount that was OBTAINABLE in game with in-game currency, removed it, reskinned it and threw it on the shop for real world currency and claims it’s for cahoots of the event. Sickening.

You can sit and try to defend this mount. Great, you may have the gold to get the tokens to buy it; Hell, maybe you have enough to buy it with cash. Either way, it’s bad for the game. The game requires a subscription, and the game also requires you buy the expansion packs to do current content. Let’s do some quick math and work this out together.

Costs
The War Within Expansion : $49.99
Subscription : $14.99

So, with this knowledge, for the price of the $90 mount, I can buy two months of game time and the latest expansion for roughly $80 USD before tax and still have a little less than $10 left utilizing the $90 budget of this mount.

The final thing I want to say to close this out, you know Blizzard is going to have this mount be shown in Mount Mania. Exposure will lead to more sales and overall, the event has been ruined for me and I feel like I don’t want to play the game.

Even people are divisive about it in trade chat, the people who bought it are calling people slurs and the people who didn’t are venting their frustrations.

It’s shocking and feels like people who are spending money have an advantage of utilizing the systems of the game by paying real world money. At least with the original mount, it was only bought with in game currency. It was earned.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED talk. Discuss below.

You can obtain the new Bruto with in-game currency. And it is much cheaper than the OG Boi.

This I will agree with you. They should have been given as an anniversary present to players.

Wait, what? Amidst all the noise about the new brutosaur I completely missed this.

Damn, they’re neat.

Seriously. Haven’t you figured out that these posts keep devolving into nonsense so the mods keep locking them? Lol.
But why not… Throw out another post.

Taking bets on how long this one stays open.

I did find it kinda funny that people were upset about the original Brutosaur mount, as the excuse being mainly a SCAN your CREDIT card item unless you farmed real hard for gold.

Now everyone is happy and excited and its a SCAN your CREDIT CARD item…once again. Make it make sense.

I’m not trying to start any trouble or bring out fights. This is a discussion forum so I’m utilizing this to discuss an issue that I have with the game that I pay monthly for. I said my peace, if it gets locked, I can’t help that. Only thing I can do is voice my frustrations.

How? The two are completely separate.

My eyes are going to be completely stuck in the back of my head with how my I’m rolling them these days.
Don’t.
Buy.
It.
Then.

That’s understandable, but gd goers are insanely volatile towards pretty much anything related to the store.

And because of the dollar amount, even more so.

My point was, because pretty much every thread today related to this has been massively derailed and locked, why start another?

Current market price is 600K gold for them. Snatch 'em before price keeps going up!

Ahh… a new topic to spam for the self righteous.

we all have anger issues, is that a problem for YOU?l :anger: :rage:

I don’t think you read the entirety of my post. I actually quoted the description of the mount which ties it directly to the anniversary. It’s being monetized more due to the fact we pay money to play this game.

I’m not.

I am a firm believer in stating my opinion. I know it will probably fall upon deaf ears but all I can do is try. Same reason I vote in elections, I guess lol. I know it’s not gonna matter much but it still validates how I feel.

Buy

It

Now

So the new mount bundle is tied directly to Warcraft III? You don’t do anything in the anniversary event to earn the brutosaur mount; tone down your hyperbole.

Then why you crying, baby?

Have you even once thought about the fact that the subscription price has not gone up in TWENTY YEARS? Not one penny. And, in fact, you can buy multi-month subscriptions that end up costing LESS than the original sub price.

With the token system, you can buy any cash shop item for gold.

Arguably, the game and the shop items are the cheapest they’ve ever been.

So what? If you don’t want the $90 mount, don’t buy it. I can’t believe how people are so open about their complete inability to take responsibility for how they handle their own money.

If you can’t pass up a $90 Bronto that you don’t want, then I can’t imagine what will happen when some foreign “prince” calls saying "If you will just send me 25 grand I will make you rich.

The old saying was never more true, “A fool and their money are soon parted”.

First of all, that is extremely uncalled for. Second, yes, the mounts are tied to the anniversary of Warcraft. This is the 20th anniversary of WoW, 30th for Warcraft. I know it may be hard to comprehend but lets try it together. It’s okay, I’ll hold you hand.

What does WoW stand for? Let’s sound it out? World. of. Warcraft. surprised pikachu face

While this is true, they have found other means of monetization. That’s fine. I understand it’s a business but going from $25 mounts to a $90 mount is CRAZY. We pay so much into Blizzard for them to give us stuff to buy in return.

We pay for expansions, a sub, we pay for character services to help support the company and we also buy mounts and cosmetics to help support the game we love. Meanwhile, the $15 looks like it’s stayed the same but the spending has drastically increased.

It’s not about wanting the $90 mount or not wanting it. It’s about the fact that they just released a mount that ties to the anniversary of the game its in for more than the cost of the entire game itself. How would you like if a brand new game released for $70 and you had to pay $90 for the DLC?

Dry your eyes, honey.

You know what… it gave me a lesson. I remember the old Brutosaur. I wanted to work for it with in-game gold. I failed becoz I didnt render much time on producing gold from the game. When that old Brutosaur became unobtainable, I realized the mistake I have done. I made a math… how much gold per day? How much time per day to allot to the game to achieve the goal? I realized that I should have just bought WoW Tokens with RL money. It’s just few hours worth from my job… instead of working for it for weeks/months in-game.

Now, that they made a New Brutosaur on the Shop, it just confirmed that I was right that buying it with RL money is the way to go. Those who has no decent RL job yet like students has an option to buy it with their in-game gold. And the New Brutosaur is like 1000x cheaper and looks better. You would only need one in your WoW lifetime.

But why did it need a new topic? There were countless today to throw it to the wind if that is what your goal was.
