You are missing the best part of level scaling.
Max level = game over till next xpac.
No level increase means everything in between is pointless if mobs scale with gear.

I’ve seen RPG redefined so much that iconic RPGs such as Final Fantasy 4 aren’t considered RPGs anymore.
FF4 = Super linear with no real character customization.
Nah, it’s not the entire point of the thread. You’re reading what you want to read, white knight. It’s ok, you can like everything there is about the game, the rest of us don’t have to agree with you.
Not the point of the entire thread?
Its literally the only thing you listed in the OP to talk about. If it wasn’t for the hotfix, this thread wouldn’t exist.
They don’t answer this simple question withing the WOW framework:
What is MYstory, and then how does my story relate to the overarching story of WOW.
They would much benefit from hiring pen and paper RPG dungeon masters who knew that players playing kept the game alive.
Doesn’t matter how good the programming is if players don’t feel attachment to Their story. Their being the operative focus.
I took personal issue with how legion was done, because it broke the truth about the world. Every paladin running around as “HIGHLORD” so and so with “THE ONE TRUE ASHBRINGER” is just dumb. Acting like we’re something we’re really not (a unique hero in the world of warcraft) is dumb, because it’s not true.
So long as that’s not what you’re meaning when you say “MY story”, we gucci. If you want to go back to “zomg I’m the leader of the alliance! Along with EVERY OTHER PLAYER OUT THERE!” then no. I don’t want to suspend disbelief any more than just “I’m playing a game.” The world should treat itself as it asctually is with no additional “imagination” required on my part.
You trying to relegate it to one example given is why it isn’t worth discussing with you.
There is much more to discuss.
I don’t think it needs to be re-hashed, it’ll happen all over again when we dump the entire expansions worth of azerite power grinding back into some wound so that we can save Azeroth and then go fight void lords in 9.0 where the cycle will repeat.
But of course you’ll be here sitting here saying that the game is fun and we all have no idea what we’re talking about because WoW has become a virtual casino instead of an RPG and you’re ok with it. More power to ya bud, go troll somewhere else.
Sweet. Didn’t get long to get to the part where people make up stuff I did or will say.
Thanks man.
I mean, it should be expected, the lead dev is a lawyer and they moved the Diablo 3 team to work on WoW.
Normally, in a company, killing one major franchise is enough, but in the current year when every AAA dev seems to be having a “hold my beer” contest…
At this point just let the franchise burn. There’s no hope with the current development team. Let a new MMO with actually talented devs who know what an RPG is rise up.
The sad part is, then this MMORPG dies, the genre will die with it. Sure Eq will still hold on as do other small games, but the big MMORPG will be gone.
Since I ONLY play MMORPGs, ill prob stay in EQ, SWTOR or LOTRO as long as they exists if WoW continues its current path or dies.
No My Story is I grew up fishing, I still fish, I even farmed up the savory deviate delight and go farm that and have a lot in my bag.
Being a fat human sometimes it’s niece to be able to eat one and fit in tight places better.
Later on my story will include Some fire mage pvp stuff.
So it’s more a story of a small person who does stuff in the greater world.
Leading the whole world, nope, never wanted to be a “king”
Think old school pen and paper rpg / table top theater from D&D to World of darkness to GURPS.
My story about me and my journey through the World of Warcraft.
Hope this clears it up a bit better. Put it down to ol’ 'man poor communication skills.
this is all over the place. its npc’s in a bg where they should be strong.
That’s definitely the kind of story I wish wow facilitated a whole lot more. I never wanted to be highlord, but was forced. Your story telling is exactly my fancy.
Except for the entire life of AV up until now the stronger you got, the weaker they got, just like any other static NPC in the world. AV is more like “raid race with pvp mixed in” and to that end, gear should absolutely affect power IMO.
I agree. We should be able to use the gear we earned whichever way we choose to.
Begins with Panda ends with ren
For real. Better watch out for those kobald miners! They will destroy you!
In all seriousness… to me, it’s not fun to feel so weak and pathetic that it’s tough to kill a lowly kobald miner
You no take candle
Ahh, yeah that definitely tracks.
