Blizzard has decided to kill Random BGs

I dunno about doom n gloom, more like just experienced. Ive been playing since classic and what have I learnt in all that time? Dont get your hopes up.

Worrying isnt it, that the fate of pvp would be in the hands of just one dude.

According the pvp dev who quit it was in the hands of just two people for a long time.

It’s always been in the hands of just 1 dude.

The dev that quit actually named a second person he was working with in his video but it’s also very likely that at times there was only one person.

exactly!!!

huh who would have thought the pvp forums is where players would voice thier concerns. I for one never look at reddit and you need to reread the comments under stoopz and not just a ā€œmostly positiveā€ generalization I find them mostly negative prove me wrong mr hide behind an alt to post

90,000 views on his video with a 6.7k likes and 107 dislikes as I write this, a clear positive metric for you right there. :grimacing:

What sort of screen shot do you need to understand that grinding honor gear to cap will be an unrecoverable mistake for the very players it was designed for? Just as with renown gear for PvEers, it will lock them out of all advancement.

When they originally announced the PvP gear vendor, they said gear would be purchased using conquest earned from doing rated PvP. Later they changed it, now it’s changed back.

Let’s say if they had announced the plan as it is now but back then. People would have unsubscribed much earlier. They had to lie about it to get millions of more dollars in subs out of the players who would eventually quit over this anyway.

It worked on me. I have three months of sub left and still haven’t bought Shadowlands. I feel like if I don’t buy it I’m wasting sub time, but I resubbed thinking it was going to be a return to MoP/WoD.

I wonder if that’s why I’ve been so angry on the BG forums lately.

Random bgs will remain for elite players to farm honor to upgrade their conquest gear.

It is not unusual to see forum old-timey elitists saying that the game would be ā€œbetterā€ if only they could purge all those casuals.

It’s not hard to imagine old time player devs thinking this is true, that somehow this will return wow to its former glory, which actually was never based on all hardcore all the time. There was plenty of room in the game for casuals to do whatever they felt like doing.

Alt scenario A: Inexperienced player lists key, forms a group, they travel to the dungeon but fail to complete it.
Alt scenario B: Inexperienced player tries to get accepted into a group but fails. No one wants a player with honor gear in their group.
Alt scenario C: In experienced player lists an arena listing. His group forms, and they are farmed by raiders in great gear.

All of these are realistic scenarios for the sort of players who will be locked into honor gear.

Of course success is never ā€œguaranteedā€ when playing with random pug teammates. I was just dispelling/debunking the myth of ā€œit’s impossible to get good gear unless you buy carriesā€, that’s all.

with these changes ill be doing bgs much more now so I can upgrade my gear on multiple toons

Who, Stoopzz? Shocking that people who follow him agree with his position. BTW, this really does sound like a good change for rated PvPers, so they aren’t just being sheeple. I’m surprised he doesn’t have more likes with that amount of views.

I’ve never argued that this something that rated players should be upset about. I’m arguing that this is something diehard unrated players should be upset about.

Or maybe they want you to play with others and do competitive play? You know, play with someone else in an MMORPG instead of AFKing in battlegrounds over and over again?

yeah but the other personality induced by the loneliness of developing by yourself doesn’t count

ā€œdiehard unrated playersā€ deserve diehard unrated gear…

and like i told you before…

it will take you 6 rbgs to get a full cap of both conq and honor…takes 2 hours…theres 164 hours in a week, im sure you will find a way to make it work with your superstar top % pvpr celebrity life.

mmos were ALWAYS about playing with others, you cant xpect to get the same experience of the game by playing alone…

you are still playing with others that has also always been a thing. the solo que just automates who you play with…winning a bg or arena still requires the team to both enter and play. that is also a net-zero change. next excuse to defend a bad change please?
