I need about 30K gold for flying and professions for my characters, would buy tokens for sure as opposed to weeks/months of grinding gold.

Someone will come in here and post no pay to win, but I didnt realize my flying faster on my PVE server is somehow a competition with you. Its simply a more efficient use of my time.

It should be in the game.

People who want to buy gold do so anyways. The blackmarket gold buying can be put to a stop with this feature.

I rather sell them. Buyers are nutcases.

I personally wouldn’t care either way. I’m sure there are some out there though that have good reasons for it not to happen.

so what’s happening so far is that people who play boosters in GDKP earn gold then they sell that gold on 3rd party sites then gold buyers buy that gold to join gdkp as pure buyers and return that gold to the boosters who would re-sell that gold to other buyers…etc it’s infinite loop.

if tokens started to sell on shop, that will break this circle which means…
1- gold buyers will not buy gold from those gdkp boosters, and gold selling will be destroyed.
2-many gdkp’s are only done because boosters wanted to sell gold and make living! that will vanish too.

are you insane? there is no way this community who’s doing RMT & Selling boosts/gold would ever agree on having tokens

you could just not play too, thats also a better use of your time. Video games are just a waste of time after all

they would just sell it for cheaper, like retail does

Which gold seller do you work for?

You either make time for that or you go find something you have enough time for. You don’t ask for a nerf. This ain’t retail.

WOTLK is already extremely casual friendly. So you don’t have time? go play some game you have enough time for.

Introduction of crap like gold token at any stage will be the end of Classic for 100% sure.

WoW token would be a good addition to the game.
It would shut down 90% of the gold cash shops and drive away the bots that farm raw gold.

lolll … to combat against the crime of murder, we should legalize murder.

A totally sound logic.

From the very conception of World of Warcraft as a game, people have been using gold to pay for their game time.

People living in South America had very limited access to international credit cards for example (especially teenagers playing the game). Other point is, there wasn’t a subscription option for those without an international credit card. Their only option was to buy the extinct game card with game time, which also required an international credit card.

Many of the people that used to sell the game licenses in South America also used to buy and sell gold (it was much less strict back then, believe it). Some of them would even go through the lengths of accepting gold directly as payment for their game cards.

Some of these players had to play not only for themselves (to sustain their own gameplay) but also to pay for their gamecard. Some of them became really good with gold farming for that purpose and continued even after that.

This is just a small background on why South American players have a bad fame of “gold farmers” from NA players but NA players have been infamously been the most avid buyers of gold from any gold sellers.

Blizzard saw that fighting HARD against gold selling was becoming a problem to them, because:

  • The action fighting against illegal gold trade led to closure of accounts and thus lost of incoming as banned players do not pay monthly fees to play the game.
  • The fight against them became harder and harder as these gold sellers started becoming professionals (not the little one farming, but huge websites that still sell golds and focus 100% on classic today).
  • For a business, it was an opportunity to explore: what if they added a token that would pay for game time? It would allow the free trade of real currency (either for game time or battle.net balance that can be used to even buy an expansion) for gold between players.

You can argue that it didn’t stop the gold selling on retail etc, but I can guarantee you that they kept acting against gold sellers (and the biggest point you can see was the collective ban of several accounts associated with the boosting communities to the point of banning them completely).

Would I prefer a world without RMT? Yeah, who wouldn’t.

But I take the world as it is and not some sort of utopia (or dystopia if you prefer) as some people do.

The goal is to stop Pay to Win. The goal isn’t to change the source of gold. It doesn’t matter who you buy it from; a website or Blizzard, it’s still the same damn thing.

You gotta farm your own gold. You gotta put in the time and effort. You gotta work hard to achieve what you want. That’s the damn goal.

You’re straight delusional.
WoW is not Pay to Win.

You’re straight delusional living in a dystopia. Wake up to reality.

Yes please kill off gold selling and gdkps

No you just buy a few tokens on retail then use one of the multiple gold swapping discords to trade the retail gold for classic gold. Very simple.

No.

Just tell us you want to screw the economy without telling us you want to screw the economy.

Incoming inflation, and it would murder GKDP groups, because what would be the point?
