- EXCEPT when it threatens its profits.
“As one of the world’s leading game companies, we’re committed to making ethical decisions, always keeping our players in mind…”
–time to update that web page.
Please don’t mistake a public relations piece for the reality of business.
(puts out a little tray of cookies for all to enjoy)
Fairly sure that calling for revolution is against the ToS and banning someone for it is not against the core values of any company.
Also which of those values were violated by this?
The Keebler Cookie Maker is right. If the dude sided without China, it still would have been a violation. It is their business policy to stay neutral when it comes to politics.
Don’t fault Blizz for adhering to their own rules. I am betting if nothing was done you all would be screaming “eSports celeb privilege!”
Blizzard was absolutely in the right. It was in the rules, he broke the rules, he got fired and lost his winnings.
However, many of us are saying we disagree with it. It wasn’t moral, and makes it look like they’re picking their profits with China over their good(somewhat) standing as a company. Which they… probably are. And they’re absolutely going to get a lot of backlash over it.
Capitalism 101 kiddo
ToS sure, but i’m sure anyone who isn’t intentionally ignorant to how the world works, knows this threatened their bottom line.
That is why he was axed, the casters were axed, and his money was taken back. Chinese investors have more worth than your life, my life or any players life.
I’m assuming this is a jab at the Chinese thing.
Literally one of the tenants is “Think Globally” and says “While respecting the cultural diversity that makes people unique, we strive to grow and support our global gaming community.”
So you’re asking them to basically spit in the faces of China and make sure those Chinamen know that so long as a Chinese citizen works for or plays for Blizzard, they AINT subject To UR Commie Rulez because MERIKA!!!
Some peoples hubris knows no bounds.
So how is prohibiting making inflammatory political statements “immoral”? It was literally “Free Hong Kong, revolution now!”. Especially considering the violence going on.
Hey another person that gets it.
every voice MATTERS
insert john cena “are you sure about that” meme
It’s clear based on the context they’re talking about their products and games… not international politics. Gimmie a break.
When the alternative is supporting China? Yes.
Fairly sure when they say “great ideas can come from anywhere” and to “respect criticism of themselves” does mean they are saying people using their platform to make political statements is OK.
“we’re committed to making ethical decisions”
No the alternative is not using their platform or position with it to make those comments…
Sounds like people are just looking for stuff to attack Blizzard over.

Not surprising since Blizzard makes dumb decisions all the time. It’s pretty easy to find things to not like. I’m just here til the west coast wakes up and the mods start deleting all of these threads. Then I’ll go back to talking about how dumb the new gnomes are.
