Blizzard Entertainment’s eight core values represent the principles and beliefs that have guided our company throughout the years. These values are reflected in employees' decisions and actions every day

I would give you a like but I’m all out for the day, apparently. Thanks new forums!

So you think allowing people to violate the ToS to make called for revolution on their platform (especially with the violence going on) is an “ethical decision”?

“Merchants have no country*. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains.” - Thomas Jefferson

*And few have any morals.

Saying that the people of Hong Kong deserve freedom is only inflammatory to bad people.

probably even illegal

Again, I’m sure the context of that quote is ‘do right by our employees’ (which that, you can argue if they’re doing)… not ‘do right by endorsing and supporting violent revolution’.

If you feel so strongly about Hong Kong’s freedom, go there, put yourself on the line and volunteer. Yelling on forums while being generous with Blizzard’s money and profits is the kind of lazy, armchair activism that’s prevalence is only eclipsed by its worthlessness in 2019.

I mean if someone in the US used the Blizzard platform to support an increasingly violent protest and seemed to be seeking to escalate it, they would most likely be banned as well.

I am all for a free Hong Kong and all, but people need to understand that just because you support the cause doesn’t mean you have free reins to use other’s platforms to express it.

Think Globally

Everywhere on the planet there are people who play Blizzard Entertainment games.

Good Point. Which means players are not interested in socio-cultural fan service, you may refer to the reception of Mists of Pandaria in China.

While respecting the cultural diversity that makes people unique, we strive to grow and support our global gaming community.

The former being completely unrelated to the latter, I am left to assume that by this you mean wokeness over profit. Good luck, it shows.

We also seek the most passionate, talented people in the world to enrich our company and help us forge the future vision of Blizzard Entertainment.

Placed under the core value Think Globally rather than Commit to Quality, we all know exactly what that means.

And you know the part you’re missing? The public backlash in front of your eyes. As a paying customer, it’s my call to spend or withhold my dollars from a company due to how they handle varying public situations. That’s the same capitalism 101 you supported.

Not enough of a backlash to matter, chinese market holds a lot of value. Also I never said if I did or did not support capitalism. I just agreed with someone who pointed it out. Companies are going to do the obvious thing, chase money. And really there is nothing more American than that.

You’re kind of implying that Chinese culture is subjugation of neighboring territory with enough brutality to kill people.

I’m implying Chinese culture is whatever the Chinese decide it is… and it’s not Blizzard’s place to open offices on their soil, hire thousands of their citizens and then give air-time and succor to someone who makes a statement that’s illegal by the rules of Chinese law.

If Blizzard didn’t do what they did, they’d not only risk being shut out of the market, but would put thousands of their own employees and their family’s at risk.

That is a very selfish thing to ask them to do from the safety of an armchair in North America.
