My friend just told me that blizz is planning a ban wave soon for these game wreckers who just sit afk in av/etc.
Anybody else know?

How does your friend supposedly know what Blizzard is planning? Blizz doesn’t tend to announce these things.

Being afk is annoying, but it is not a bannable offense
You’re wrong btw. In Vanilla I had a GM visit me in the cave and in no uncertain terms tell me I had to participate in the BG or I would be punished.
But, Blizzard fired most of them and changed their policies up quite a bit so, who knows now. This isn’t the same Blizzard as 2004-2005.

Technically anything is a bannable offense. They can ban you for no reason at all as it says in the terms.
But yeah I don’t think they’ve ever banned people for AFKing in BGs.
I think the obvious distinction here is: IF, they were to act, it would not be against non participation. But rather against bots that keep you from going afk.

If the player is there, they won’t get banned. If they are using a bot and a GM messages them and the GM doesn’t get a human response, then they could get banned.
Problem is, Blizzard doesn’t have GMs to actively monitor AFKers…

Hope you’re right, but it sure seems like a monumental undertaking.
It would be a hoot if they were able and willing to ban from classic specifically. Retail play? No worries.

Blizzard has been handing out 6 month bans to AFK botters that get reported for a couple weeks now.
Hand of Rag/Spinal Reaper shaman on my server got a 6 month for botting AV.

AFKers shouldn’t be banned. As much as it sucks to play with them, they’re not breaking any rules by getting up from their computer while in a BG. Player issue, player solution: vote AFK.
If they’re using some third party bs to let them know when the debuff occurs to run into combat, or something that runs them into combat…I put them in the botters category and I hope they rot. Give 'em all 6 months.
Also Blizzard hardly knows what they are planning themselves 99% of the time. haha

Doesn’t matter. AFKers are not breaking rules. Botters are. You can be as annoyed about it as you want. Doesn’t matter. I understand you think what you don’t like should be a bannable offense, but that’s not how it works.
If they’re truly afk in the cave, not botting, and get the debuff they will be kicked.

They may, they may not, but unless your friend works at blizzard or is married to someone, i doubt they actually know at all.

Except Blizz broke the afk boot because Alliance premades were abusing it.

Toons should just get deleted for going AFK in BG’s. Problem solved.
