When Blizzard removed Conquest vendors and Resilience and replaced it with randomly assigned loot did they ever say why they did it? This random loot system sucks. Every time I do a Battleground I can’t help but think how Blizzard made PVP suck. Do they care about PVP because they made it suck and kept it this way…so, they just don’t care if people like their PVP system? If the reason was to force people to do PVE content I don’t think that did anything but piss people off.
Planning out gear and stacking as much Resi as possible was fun.

Cool. Conquest vendors are coming back.
They wanted players to spend more time inside the game because of “metrics” monitoring hence forcing PvPers to waste lots of time in PvE if they want decent gear.

And what they got was PVP players quitting.
This time of the patch cycle during WoD I was happily queuing up one Bg after another. In fact, I was happy doing that all expansion long during WoD. Make me PVE to be relevant in PVP, and I tend to stop playing.

I assume they did it because they thought random loot was more exciting to players. Similar to their rationale for warforging/titanforging. But like titanforging going away, we are getting a more deterministic system in SL so that’s progress at least.
It is progress, but when they had the PVP gearing system always improving from Vanilla => WoD, it feels real bad to come out with 3 consecutive expansions that are worse.
SL might be better than Vanilla pvp gearing. But it does look better than Legion and BfA. But when you are competing for the 3rd worst PVP gear expansion, it likely means you should realize that the “gear is gear” experiment is not worth pursuing, and go back to WoD pvp gear.
I wonder how many times I have stopped playing in the last 2 xpacs.
