I’ll give you two guesses. Any chance to bash the token even if the topic has nothing to do with it.

As an aside, the token dealt a very crippling blow to illegal gold sales from shady third party websites. Some folks tend to ignore that fact and only focus on ‘BLIZZARD IS GREEDY’ which is not what the token is about at all. Heck, some people play without having to pay a monthly subscription at all because of the token. But hey, Blizz is evil blah blah.

They want all boosting to be done in-game so people have to go though the WoW token and they can ban any RMT. RMT boosts get Blizzard no money. It makes sense that they would go after RMT boosting discords.

You can’t advertise RMT in your discord server ad, sure. But you can surely take a venmo payment and “cover the gold” from a buyer in your dms.

I still don’t see anything in the article claiming the communities were doing RMT boosts.

In fact, the article notes that Blizz has not taken action against the communities…which implies that no RMT is involved.

It’s a bad look for Discord to enforce other games’ ToS…when the games themselves are not taking any actions themselves.
