Well Blizzard’s official response is that their relationship with China had 0 impact on their decision, that they would have made the same decision if someone that was very pro-China spouting pro-Chinese government propaganda did the same thing.
So any volunteers that want to test the water then? I love Xi Jinping and I think he is a hero.
While I get what you’re trying to say, you’re comparing apples and oranges lol. That dates back to years of slavery followed by segregation. This was merely a person break the rules of a game - keyword game.
She also broke “the rules” to bring about positive change and awareness. For her and others in her situation. If you choose not to see the parallels I’m not sure what to tell you.
Except the Twitter mob and a lot of people on these forums are calling total bull which honestly is ridiculous ;/ It’s kind of tin-hat wearing and they’re still talking about Blizzard China’s response which was literally like a child spouting from it’s mouth in lieu of the parent - Blizzard Entertainment
I hate that Blizzard fanboys will now use this canned “apology” to hush up any last remaining resistance against what Blizzard did to Blitzchung. I hate that this is enough for them because at heart, they care much more about their own personal entertainment than championing basic human rights. Already I’m seeing people down play what’s going on and tell me it’s not so bad, that they are now fine with it etc.
I hate that this whole thing happened. I was ready to look forward to Blizzcon but now I’m disgusted with not only the company but with the community. Does your addiction run so deep that you’re even willing to overlook this game company supporting a tyrannical and frankly genocidal regime, just so you can continue playing their games?
I don’t even care if this post gets me banned, but god damn that is so PATHETIC.
Rosa Parks was perfectly entitled to engage in civil disobedience at her peril. I.e., possibly facing arrest. That was her decision.
She had not agreed to the terms and conditions of a private contract, which agreement gave the sponsor of the event absolute discretion to prevent and punish inappropriate political grandstanding.
Again, you are ignoring the fact that as a sponsor of this legal and private tourney, Blizzard is entitled to make and enforce the rules against contestants who agree to abide by them, specifically.
Are you suggesting that the contract for the HS tourney was equivalent or even comparable to a slave contract? LOL
You are making completely inappropriate analogies and frankly, tilting at windmills.
Its just a crappy situation a damned if you do damned if you don’t for Blizzard. Blizzard is a gaming company and should not involve itself in politics at all. Besides there is no point, not a single one of you on the fourm’s can do a damn thing about the situation over there. It is not your fight and do not pretend to care.
edit: I agree with Blizzard btw. He broke the rules and got his message out like he wanted and was punished accordingly.
If you choose to not see the comparing blatant racism which at the time there was a movement for already albeit small to someone shouting out in lieu of grounds not being theirs then I don’t know what to tell you! Like I said, I see what you’re trying to say but you’re comparing a significant figure like Rosa Parks to someone breaking the rules set by a company WHICH is very much appropriate. Lots of companies do this.
It’s not like Blizzard is out here segregating their games are they?
Im only taking your own opinions to their logical conclusions. That if rosa parks had signed a contract it would have been legal and moral to move her to the back of the bus because of the color of her skin.
Eh true and not true. The voice of the internet - if carried by those with REAL conviction instead of this silly #boycottblizz or whatever it is - can be strong. Someone was out here earlier linking around a donation site. Whether that’s valid or not I don’t know, but I know resources need money so there’s that.
Eh I gave Lejk the benefit of the doubt or something like it. I did say it was comparing apples and oranges, but yours of apples and fish are better lol
This guy was also equally free to make the choice to speak up.
By living in the state of Alabama and using the public transit system she agreed to the laws of the land and all city ordinances. She was then duly punished for breaking said/laws/ordinances.
Which I’m sure you would be happy with. Because rules.
That you can’t see the parallels says more about you than anything.
Xi Jingping’s has a strong leadership style, and yes it has its risks, but it also has its advantages. His leadership is unlikely to bring the instability of Moa’s. The reality is, Western countries have continued to find good leadership, in Australia we recycle through Prime Ministers almost as fast as the Horde cycles through Warchiefs, meanwhile Xi has been filling a vacuum, love him or loathe him he is giving the Chinese people certainty about their future. The fact that he has tolerated the protests for so long, means that he is hardly as much a dictator as Mao was. China is strong, and will be strong for a long time…but do we want it to be any other way? Look what happens when we toppled Saddam Hussein, Gadafi and all the rest of it, evil or not they kept order in their countries by ruling them with an iron fist.
And I am not just saying this to get a bite out of you all, this is all actually true. Let the Chinese do things China’s way, and let the Moral West continue to do things their way.
