Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

I find the word need a bit of a stretch here. Whats a few hundred million in revenues when you already have hundreds of millions in revenues. Of course it would hurt them a lot to lose that market, but to say they NEED them. They feel that way and act as such but they existed before ever being in the Chinese markets and could without them too.

You’re 100% correct. You have to be wherever and whenever to point out hypocrisy and wrongdoing. Let’s all get In our time machine to confirm that Germany did bad things during WW2.

Lefty? Boy I served in the military for 8 years. I am not a lefty nor am I a righty. I’m a friggin American. Actions have consequences. To think otherwise is foolish and naive.

Let’s use that same time machine and confirm that the Allies DIDN’T do bad things during WW2

Are you comparing Blizzard to N@zi Germany? There is this thing called nuance and you have to be able to use it in given situations. It would be great if all situations were always black and white. That’s not the case. Nice bait though.

You’re smart enough to know that’s not the comparison I was making. Your post is the bait, not mine.

Sorry to break this to you, but you’re way off. To assume people with a problem discussing such things on a video games forum just don’t care? This is not the appropriate place to discuss such matters, period.

Social media has given us an outlet to give our opinions on everything in the world. And just because it’s appropriate there doesn’t mean it’s acceptable here.

So you want to tell the world how evil you think Blizzard is, good for you. Not gonna meet with much success though, considering you doing it on their platform.

Go Twitter crazy, and while you at it, catch up on what’s going on where you live, the chits getting pretty deep here.

This. Political posts are almost never appreciated in forums.

Nope. Recipes and arguments about waffles and pancakes, like pies and cake, are used in filibustering.

I’m also quite shocked at some of the forums response to this OP. I don’t understand why on earth people on this forum have any sympathy for blizzard or china in this matter.

Pandering to china and its market is EXACTLY what got you the disaster that was last years blizzcon and is a giant part of the push to mobile gaming and micro transactions.

They are actively helping a horrible government suppress support for democracy and even if you don’t care about that they are making your games worse by aiming for this market.

Welcome to the dictatorship of China. This is not Blizzard doing this, it is China “forcing” them to. How do people not understand???

It’s called time and place sir. Yea it’s that simple.

You do realize it’s illegal to speak to your fellow employees at work about certain topics. It’s considered a form of harassment, and you can be fired for doing it. It’s simply not the proper forum for those discussions.

The same applies here, it’s against the rules. Opening these threads is a violation of the rules. You know, like the layering exploit players, you were so happy when this happened, that got banned for BREAKING THE RULES.

Though this maybe the right time, it’s not the right place. Take your discussion of this to the proper place and talk your fingers off, but stop harassing us with your moral views.

It is so frustrating that people can’t see Blizzard is not taking sides on this political matter. They are trying thier best to stay neutral and they were forced into taking action to make a statement. It’s not terrible business practice, they are making a statement that they will not get involved in matters that should have no part in the gaming industry. Like seriously, stop making threads on this. This is the answer.

Look at where a lot of activism happens these days. Video games, movies, tv shows and sporting events. When you start to invade peoples happy space with political activism they’ll get mad (even if the cause seems just and noble). Someone who might support a particular cause might be turned away from it if the people trying to present that cause do it in an incorrect manner.

Just liked this post simply because it was hidden.

Their own behavior.

get a grip - its spam, it is being reported as such - its not about WOW, its not about CLASSIC WOW it has no purpose in this forum. if you cannot understand that you are the moron.

This is just absurd, you’re basically saying having an opinion is interfering in other countries politics. Really?

BTW what do you think MI6, The Kremlin, etc does? Every country is doing or saying what is in it’s best interest. Buying goods from one country instead of another could and is at times certainly interfering in a countries politics. Why are we not buying good from Iran, I wonder… Also, if you have been paying attention what do you think Tariffs are? Nearly every country has them and they are more favorable depending on who the countries are that’s doing business. This of course is to affect politics.

It stems a lot from people not understanding anything about geopolitics and having very little knowledge on anything in the world scheme. People think it’s easy to just ignore China when they have been aggressively expanding and threatening their neighbors, who are allies of the US. But sure, it’s easier to just ignore an issue and squelch it rather than discuss potential consequences.

People are entitled to their opinion, but people are always going to find a way to sweep anything under the rug because it threatens their world view or safety.

Probably 'cuz it’s not a Hong Kong human rights forum. I could be wrong, but that’s my guess.
