No, they were not right to do it. They chose to support genocide and persecution. They took a side.
I hear what you are saying. I really do.
Blizzard is a private company and can react according to the rules they and these other individuals agreed to.
ALSO true, we, as consumers of Blizzards products can also react by telling them we are upset by their choice both by actually telling them and by boycotting their products just like the NFL. This discussion is part of that. Blizzard is getting an eyeful of angry customers because of their actions.
this statement just proves my previous statement
They are neutral in this.
Nope. They enforced the rules that the player signed to agree and then violated.
What were the rules?
As was Switzerland as they took jewish gold stolen from holocaust victims. “Switzerland wasn’t the bad guy, they were neutral!”
Which Blizzard had discretion to enforce. Blizzard could have sided with freedom.
Please see about twenty different posts I have made on this. Its called TORTIOUS INTERFERENCE. They harmed a third party (Twitch) by depriving Twitch of potential revenue because the player and pod casters have now been banned from competition which will reduce Twitch’s revenue in the future. The prize money was fair game. But banning a player for something he said on a Twitch stream post game is not within Blizzard’s authority.
Twitch time…which wouldnt have a venue if it wasnt for blizzards game. Man, how stupid can people be??? Im suprised you were smart enough to figure out the sign up process to even play WoW
ROFL This is hilarious hahaha
*[2019 HEARTHSTONE® GRANDMASTERS OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES v1.4](https://bnetcmsus-a.akamaihd.net/cms/page_media/w4/W4NWIBHB74T31564507077190.pdf) p.12, Section 6.1 (o)*
Engaging in any act that, in Blizzard’s sole discretion, brings you into public disrepute, offends a portion or group of the public, or otherwise damages Blizzard image will result in removal from Grandmasters and reduction of the player’s prize total to $0 USD, in addition to other remedies which may be provided for under the Handbook and Blizzard’s Website Terms.
It was on an official Blizzard Stream so, they can do whatever they want. Twitch isn’t entitled to anything. You can’t be serious.
The fact that you think that fighting for freedom is something that would bring Blizzard into public disrepute or offends anyone, or would damage Blizzards image shows how far gone you already are.
The rules use a little more legalese than I’m about to retype here, but this a pretty good paraphrase:
“If you do anything that offends anyone or hurts our public image in anyway, we can remove you from Grandmasters and also hand out any other punishments we feel like”.
In other words, “if you do a thing we don’t like.”
Apparently addressing the destruction of fair trial and due process in less than 10 words violates the ToS because Blizzard didn’t like what was said.
I wish I could have watched the stream so I could find other examples where someone could have violated the ToS.
I think that blizz dose have the right to punish the player for breaking the terms outlined in the tos for the tournament. But the harshness and blizz effectively saying “we will protect china’s pride” is where blizz went wrong.
No sir it was a TWITCH platform property. Do ya research
Don’t need to read it. I can see the results.
Correction, his action cause the damage.
Just like the NFL, Blizzard will recover. However, neither the NFL nor Blizzard would recover if they keep allowing people to hijack their venues for their own agenda. Let the event be about the event.
It’s stated in a manner that it can be used for whatever they want. They chose to use it in a way that obviously pandered to the PRC. Why anyone is bothering to debate this is beyond me.
