Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

It does not have to be china related. Political statements can be unpopular. Such as controversial topics like racial supremacy, neonatzis, conservative religious views etc.

True, since Fortnite hasn’t been allowed to launch in China. So, worst case scenario is that Epic stays not having their game in China. Meanwhile, they use the PR bump to counter the stuff they’ve been doing with their store…

Yeah, looking forward what will happen in the coming fortnite march.

People here laugh at Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, India and Taiwan’s trouble with China’s totalitarian regime while they sip
Caramel Frappuccino at Starbucks

It’s laughable the people here are.

People think that this is just another arbitrary outrage

But little did they know that Hong Kong is desperate and helpless. Not a single country is tough enough to stand up against China

And you have people here just gleeing and laughing at the situation

Because it is. They cared sooooo much about Hong Kong before, honestly. Just like they care about the children still in detention centers. Or the kid who got shot by the police. Or the latest school shooting. Or… Look, it’ll be over in a month, two months tops, and people will be back to not caring about it so long as it doesn’t affect them.

People still fight to see those change.
I don’t know what kind of cave you’re living in.

No other country helped Hong Kong before in the past except China, neither in 97 Asian financial crisis nor in financial crisis of 2008. Even a penny.

I know that you will be unhappy about what I said, but this is the reality.

People’s cynicism is disgusting.

But i suppose i shouldn’t be surprised
What does Americans knows about the plight of Asians?

They’re so caught up in their own bubble, heck ask your everyday american where Japan is, they wouldn’t know.

Wow wheres the tanks running people over China has grown soft.

That’s interesting, because if I asked the average person in Hong Kong where America is, they’d say: “GET ME THE HECK OUT OF HERE, THE GOVERNMENT IS COMING TO KILL ME OR THROW ME IN PRISON FOR SAYING SOME WORDS.”

Dude, according the human freedom index 2018, HK is in 3rd position and USA is in 17th.

///Looks at news///

Pretty sure that says something about the Human Freedom Index, rather than the US.

After receiving criticism from the Chinese Government Apple has removed the App Hong Kong citizens were using to track police movements. This comes right after they removed the Taiwan flag emoji from Iphones in Hong Kong and Macau.

People really need to get used to China having much more influence on just companies in general.

This thread is just a wreck now after they combined all the threads into one lol.

Well that’s fair enough, I mean why would you allow citizens to track police movements, that would be something criminals could use to avoid trouble with the law.

…Welp, the state of the game and the state of the company is too much for me-- and I’ve defended a few of BFA’s aspects before.

I just wish it could have been different. I grew up playing this game…

You have no idea how much money companies based in the United States get fined for violating U.S. laws do you? Let me help you with that.

  • YouTube fined $170 Million

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/sep/04/youtube-kids-fine-personal-data-collection-children-

  • Facebook fined $5 Billion

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2019/07/24/facebook-pay-record-5-billion-fine-u-s-privacy-violations/1812499001/

Google fined $5 Billion
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-07-17/google-said-to-have-11th-hour-call-with-eu-ahead-of-android-fine

These are just a few and there are many more big fines on their way as investigations continue. Do you think $5 Billion is nothing? Companies that do business inside the United States have to abide by U.S. law. Those fines are for breaking the laws in the United States and Blizzard is located in California. American politicians have responded to the actions Activision-Blizzard has taken, so don’t believe me, go tell them it’s none of their business to enforce U.S. laws. I wonder if they’ll listen to you. Nah. Probably not.
If Blizzard wants to censor things like speech then they had better make sure they aren’t doing it while sitting in and chair in the United States.

It’s very easy to preach “morality and idealism before money” when it’s not -YOUR- bread and butter that may be threatened.

things you mention are out of the scope of the orginizations themselves… for example your NFL example, they can’t control if the VP decides to attend a game then walk out. It’s no different than if a regular person like you or me buys a ticket, attends a game and walks out. The NFL has zero control over the actions of attendees.

And as for the NBA example you gave, that one makes sense… It’s no different than any other employer who requires their workers to adhere to a dress policy or wear uniforms… many businesses, especially professional occupations require all their employees to adhere to a strict dress code… can you imagine going to a hospital and all the doctors and nurses were dressed in street clothes or “hip-hop clothes”? So yes, if I am paying you big bucks, hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars, you bet your butt you better dress appropriately and put on a good image for the company else you’re out the door.

and your example for the MLB pretty much backs up what I stated, it’s been a forum for improving relations and building bridges with Cuba, the Carribean, and South America. and just because some random politician decides to interject themselves into the activities and voice their opinion over decisions the MLB makes, that’s outside of the MLB organization’s control… they have no say in or control over the rantings of a random politician.
