Protip: don’t believe every random post on the forums/reddit
I got an error on the email code and security question.
If you actually research the Tienanmen Square Massacre, you’d quickly realize the military was justified in resorting to using deadly force… I know that it’s easy to believe the military fired into unarmed peaceful protestors, but the reality of the situation, it was anarchy and chaos in those streets, students vandalizing, trashing the area, setting military vehicles and tanks on fire and putting the national guard/military men’s lives in danger, forcing them to defend themselves and take action against the protesters.
So while photos of that lone man standing infront and stopping the tank was spread all over western media and is the image plastered in all the history books and remembered… photos of protesters setting fire to military vehicles, while the military personnel were still in them, aren’t mentioned or shown… for example this aftermath photo: https://i.imgur.com/bqgY4mS.png
It’s similar to any other riot, such as when there are out of control protests here in America, protestors throwing rocks at and injuring police, flipping over and setting police cars on fire, vandalizing businesses/property, etc, and if worse comes to worse, individuals attempting to kill police, forcing the police (or national guard) to shoot back (i.e. Los Angeles Riots), and sadly you don’t hear about how the protesters attacked the police, instead you usually only hear about the police attack the protesters out of context (with parts about how the police returned fire to defend themselves being left out).
i think what everyone is not realizing is, it was probably the chinese branch of blizz entertainment, that not only made the decision but also put out the statement justifying it, thusly why they said “our country”. blizz likely hired chinese citizens in china to run the chinese branch of blizz china. so its not unusual for them to make decisions that will keep them out of trouble with the chinese government.
iotw, its not americans that work in china blizz, but chinese that work in china blizz, and likely citizens of china.
pretty much exactly this. It’s no different than any other corporation with international headquarters/branches… typically these different HQ/Branches have their own president, and even their own CEOs
7350 posts on this and it still remains a political problem. There is ways to fix it and ways to make it worse.
do we know if blizzchung was a chinese or hong kong citizen?
That’s like asking if someone is a US or Puerto Rican Citizen. They are both American.
well with the current political stance of the people of hong kong, it makes a difference .
So so so wrong. How can people come to these conclusions in this day and age of information. Disgusting. You disgust me.
The residents of Hong Kong got to miss out on all the fun of the ten year plan, the great leap forward, the cultural revolution, etc. They also had the freedom to learn and watch all of that happen while under the crown.
They just haven’t been beaten and labor camped into submission yet. They also still enjoy greater access to outside news and non government views. Give it 10 another ten years and a few hundred thousand severe beatings or couple of people being pasted by tanks.
exactly my thoughts. you blindly come to the conclusion that the massacre was unjustified or for no reason, but willingly ignore the violence and actions of the protesters themselves that led to the decision that ultimately resulted in the “massacre”
It’s just like in American history, the Boston Massacre. Everyone believed that the red coat British soldiers fired on innocent colonist, when in reality they were merely defending themselves as proven by evidence, witnesses, and in court of law (and thanks to future president John Addams who was reluctantly their defense attorney).
Or just like the many police shootings here in America, people like to believe that police go around and shoot individuals for no reason, when the majority of the time, these officers were forced to defend themselves against the supposed martyred “unarmed victim”, and thankfully we live in the era of body cams and video, so then the video comes out to exonerate these officers showing the “unarmed victim” pointing a gun or trying to stab the officer with a knife, but sadly many of the protestors still attempt to believe the person killed was a victim, regardless of video evidence showing the police were justified and defending themselves because in reality these protesters are just using the slain individual as an excuse to cause trouble and be apart of the hate bandwagon because it’s the popular thing to do for virtue signal points and twitter/instagram upvotes.
This is getting way stupid. Suppose your going to look at his dna sample to examine his ancestors? All he did was violate a TOS agreement about world politics in a gaming contest. But again why would Blizz care if they don’t monitor there own chat bars.
People been using homophobic, Racial slurrs and political flame wars and name calling since vanilla wow. As I said Vanilla not classic. Vanilla was 15 years ago classic is this recently. And has any of these people got caught or banned?
All the evidence you need need is plain sight in front of you. Join a LFR or random battleground or just listen to trade chat on a full server. You get people talk garbage toilet filth unchecked and it somehow it is socially correct.
Innocent civilians defending their lives, their freedoms and their way of life are somehow deserving of being ran over by tracked vehicles leaving blood for thousands of feet. Yep i don’t know jack, sure don’t i haven’t seen the video and the photos. Certainly haven’t. Go pick up a book and do us a favor and never disgrace these forums again. /mute.
if you step infront of a moving tank moving upwards of 40mph, what do you expect to happen? especially when these “innocent civilians” are attempting to throw molotov cocktails and set fire to these same tanks and blocking them so they can do so, as you can see from the photos of destroyed military vehicles, photos of wounded, burned, dead military personnel, from this “massacre” that are conveniently left out of the history books as it doesn’t support the peaceful protester image, but can find thanks to the internet.
Read the diplomatic cables from Tienanmen. There’s defense and dispersal, then there is having to shut the place down for a few weeks to toothbrush the human remains that were ground into the pavement. The PRC wanted to send an extreme message through the survivors to any other activists. Protest and we will pulp you.
The modern american equivalent would be driving a municipally owned fully loaded cement mixer through a civil rights march under the orders of the government. We chose dogs and fire hoses.
You can, not only for that but for any topic, especially when you use extreme violence or have unreasonable demands.
So yes, you CAN be overly zealous about your liberty.
You can find them thanks to the PRC. I’m going to choose to believe private diplomatic cables from multiple countries about the matter versus [citation needed] accounts that appear on the internet (and miraculously pass through the great firewall).
Stuff like this makes people create martyrs out of thin air and sheer stupidity to be honest.
Both parties are wrong, just as some civilians that have been hurt are innocent, so are police officers trying to do their job while fending off extremely violent protesters.
