I don’t agree with your overly simplistic definition of the game.
Actually, no. No, it’s not. Because this event stretches so long that it will get interference from other Holiday events (Halloween, Christmas, etc).
Seasonal event overlap happens, but it’s usually a day or two, and there are usually much smaller time commitments required. This bloated beast of an event will be competing with other holiday events from start to finish.
But the thing is the overlap doesn’t matter when you start getting the anniversary tokens from also doing the other holiday events. The other holiday events won’t change, the anniversary event itself doesn’t change, you just get the reward tokens passively from doing weeklies people would do anyways.
It’s like saying the Dark Moon Fair interferes with holidays because it happens at the same time as some of them, it really doesn’t and usually people make full use of those overlaps.
And they added Delves so players don’t have to do any of that if they don’t want to. Significantly less grindy than doing normal > heroic > M0 > M+.
I am completely over the game rolling out appearance items and expecting me to grind my butt off to get them. They do nothing to increase my game fun. I use hardly any of them after the initial “try it on for size”. I have far better things to do with the diminishing hours of my life than grind for tiny amounts of a new currency for the kind of thing that should just come from nomral day-to-day gameplay.
Its getting to the point where the value of these appearances is being diminished by the pure flood of them being offered as some sort of huge gift by Blizzard.
Do you know for a fact that other holiday (Halloween, Christmas) activities will reward anniversary currency or is that just something that you believe?
Also, anything that is just done “passively” has no point. If you truly get what is required passively, then there was no reason for a requirement in the first place (because you will get it regardless if it is actually passive). People who make this argument never seem to realize this.
Nothing says celebrating like waiting weeks to get the sets/rewards.
Let’s talk the 12 hour 10% exp/rep buff. I wish it had been a package in the mail.
This would have been nostalgia like the other years and mechanically would make more sense. Giving me the extra 10% after I’ve done the content is counterintuitive. As an example, run time walking to earn a buff after you’ve already run the content……okayyy.
In the current state make it account wide at least.
Regarding t2 sets. At a minimum make them a low drop chance from anniversary event content. That allows some moments of excitement, player choice to farm, and a bad luck protection with vendor purchases to fill out missing sets.
I really want this event to be fun. It just isn’t. I think it could be with some tuning focused on player enjoyment as the focus not whatever other objective is being utilized.
And be happy to be stucked at 619 gear. And Delves require you to do 8 Delves every week until all your slots are all 619. That is a grind no matter how you look at it.
not true I have 21 now and I never did any of the group or that scenerio. All the normal weeklies give those tokens as well. I barely touched that event so far.
You mean the Delves that take about 15-20 minutes? And that have about 6 months from start to finish for the whole season? Plus you can get maps during Delves to speed things up even more.
Meanwhile this is 3 months with much more limited ways to gain resources for completely cosmetic rewards.
You’re out of your element.
This is madness
This event is ridiculous. As you said, I’m surprised at how little participation there is and the insane grind to get even just a couple tokens. I have no idea how this made it past testing. I came to the forums looking for the same complaints and I wasn’t let down.
Chromie needs to send me 3 weeks into the future where I will have enough money and be BEYOND the cold iron bars of the uncaring time gate
You would think 20 year anniversary they would be more giving to help players feel more festive
Blizzard has never met a grind they didn’t like. To be honest, this feels the way a Blizzard aniversary should feel: “hey, you love grinds and we’ve got a new grind for you!” Us: “Oh, hurray, thanks Blizzard just what a I wanted for my anniversary!”
Couldn’t they just give me another baby blizzard bear?
You can get them like not lifting a finger. You want a gear? Try Raid. Yup, not a faceroll Raid. No Pain No Gain. Get gear… not cosmetics.
Really? Just by sitting at my computer and not doing anything? No? You mean I have to go out of my way to do a bunch of stuff to farm up the limited tokens? Sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about and are just here to argue.
Technically they are living up to their name then.
Timewalking? World Boss Crashing? Fetch quests for kids? Etc. Then do your weeklies in Dorn. Yup, no finger lifted
