It’s an elaborate player retention FOMO scam disguised as a 20th anniversary celebration event. Except It’s not really a disguise, it’s actually pretty brazen.
It’s a slow drip. The fact that anyone justifies this is … funny.
I’m on Zul’Jin server, pretty busy server, and the participation last night 8-11pm eastern time was dismal.
I won’t be back to this faux celebration anytime soon.
Hahahaha, i mean is any reward even that amazing? Updated models of old Tier sets? Ok thats nice i guess could just update them without an event attached to it( Like they updated most of the BC sets when Tomb of Sargeras came out and made them better as part of tier set).
Mounts that most people already own. And new phoenix mount that looks like store one??? Really shows their appreciation of people staying in their game for so long.
Detective event that is coming could be something, hope reward is not a recolor. But knowing blizz…
It’s more a patience issue than the activities being tedious. It’s all weekly stuff that takes a few hours to do, total, for the entire week. If it was daily, sure, that’d be tedious. Running SoO in Remix daily was tedious. Doing weekly stuff once a week and eventually getting the reward isn’t tedious in the slightest. People are just mad they have to play the game and wait a bit to get what they want in my estimation.
There are 13 tokens you can get from the beginner quests for first time completion, 17 tokens for the weekly khaz algar activites, 18 for the weekly anniversary activites.
Added up you will have 48 tokens your first week so you just get your first set next week. How is this bad at all?
We should be playing the game for fun, not as a second job.
It grows tiring to keep telling whoever pushes this rubbish on us.
Tourists. I dont think WoW is a tourist game. If they dont like Grinds, they are in a WRONG game.
…each weekly quest takes like 20 minutes if that. maybe just quit the game if you think the entirety of it is that much of a chore?
This isn’t a me problem, this is a problem with Blizzard pushing metrics over gameplay.
Whoever is doing this doesn’t care about the game being fun.
If you are playing a videogame and not having fun, you must be in a wrong game.
You tell me who enjoys the current rate of coin gain and I’ll take it all back.
lets make the quests weekly not daily, Lets make the stuff coast a lot and the quests drop LOW amount etc etc…i mean i get we have until Jan but no one wants to do this for 3 months
and what do you have fun doing in this game exactly?
Been playing WoW since Vanilla. I know the drill. I play it slowly but regularly. Eventually, i would get it.
Unlike you, you want it all now. Becoz you are a Tourist. You are gone in few weeks.
Immediately?
One day? No. But it shouldn’t require multiple months of grinding to get everything. It’s almost like there’s more than one option here.
my guess is its 3 months bc they got nothing new to coming out so they needed 3 months of us to grind
Yeah after spending a few hours doing various world bosses and quests… and ending up with 12 tokens out of 240 I need for the sets I want… this sucks.
The loot from world bosses also feels like a pretty big waste of time when Delve8s give significantly better rewards.
BRD raid also seems quite overtuned in LFR and Normal difficulties. My LFR group wiped 3x on Emperor, and everyone was 610+ ilvl it seemed.
They drop lfr equivalent loot just like regular TWW world bosses
Actually, it’ll be the third week minimum for me.
Mostly because of this:
Don’t have TWW, so I won’t be getting those tokens. Fair enough, whatever.
31 for the first week, and then only 18 per week thereafter. Possibly less if the content ends up being dead; the Codex in particular has some ridiculously long queues, so I may only do that once for the meta achievement mount.
Means I’ll have to be choosy and can’t get everything… and makes me wonder if I should just hoard the tokens if - when - they nerf the costs.
Perhaps the tragedy of all this… you’re probably right.
If putting up with this fecal deposit is expected of the player, then leaving the game probably is the right thing to do.
Truth be told, I came back to WoW a few months ago… and it’s been a fairly steady stream of “Hmm, I’ll stick around another month and try that next little thing”. The 20th Anniversary Event was just the latest iteration, but I’ve already noticed the pattern and it was only a matter of time before I’d had enough.
But of all of them, I didn’t expect this event to turn into the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I was planning on leaving the game soon enough, but it’s starting to look like getting what few things I want out of this event before walking away - and probably even sooner than expected.
