Blitz mmr, re-rolling values?

tl:dr; on my first toon in TWW, I was pushing rating in blitz and never lost rating until a dc set me back 200 some pts, and haven’t been able to push up higher since; would rerolling help my chances at streaking wins to a higher rating?

LF anyone who has pushed blitz rating on multiple characters and specs; it would be helpful to know your experience with mmr and rating

Hey,

I have been adding in the solo bg queue to my sessions and enjoying. Wondering how mmr works and if anyone can make sense of this because I’m considering pushing my ww spec, or on another mw, or another class altogether:

Wins gave 150-200 rating until about 1500, then it was maybe 20 pts per up to 2.2, and all throughout this losses never took away rating, rating only went up, until I dc’d one match at 2260 and logged back in to find I’d lost some 200 pts. My rating quickly went back up to where it was and now it’s stagnant- wins give 8 to 15 rating and losses take away the same values. MMR of the teams in pmuch all qs since my first few have been 2400.

For frame of reference, my acct previous xp: 2k rbgs, 2.2 in 2v2, 2.1 in 3v3, 2.2 in shuffle

Certainly have a lot of impact as a mw but I’m still only 1/8 of the team. It feels like I may have reached a higher rating were it not for the dc, and now am experiencing some version of the so-called ‘elo hell’. Any insight? Also:

  1. would rolling another monk or other character give me some, if marginal, chance to enter another rating bracket as mw?
  2. would playing my ww spec give me that same chance?
  3. would playing another class at all affect how the mmr system would place me?
  4. I’m currently at 102-93. I want to say it was at least 50 games ago I dc’d and lost the rating. Do you think I could still push on this character if I skilled up / set up my ui for bgs?

Sry for the long post. And thanks to anyone who responds!

Your highest cr listed is already near the top of the cr available for someone with barely above a 50% win rate. This is not a attack on you you’ve actually done very very well. The few people above you on the ladder, figured out how to almost never lose. Some people do have their theories on how mmr works, but I think you’re better off climbing more on the character you’re already progressed out of 2100 mmr games on.

I passed that mmr after I think my 2nd game tho. It was ranging 2.2-2.4 for a while, then and since then it’s been 2.4 every time. I only saw maybe 2 games under 2.2 mmr.

Hmm, that doesn’t add up. There’s really no way any individual can make it many matches without seeing losses, especially once you get to a higher rating. What you’re suggesting is that the higher up ratings are only made of the incredibly lucky toons with insane w/l but checking leaderboards it’s apparent that ppl are pushing rating while losing.

Do you play multiple characters and what ratings/mmr are they at?

Looking at your Blitz graph on drustvar, I think it would take longer on an alt to reach the same point as “Ichiros”

We can see the 200cr dip, but you almost made it back to where you were.

You would have to replay in the 1700-1800 which can be hit or miss.

Hey very useful ty. It is still giving me 2.4 lobbies every time. You’re saying that I could possibly get higher rating than the 2260 if I played another character? And that the dc 200 pt loss put me in a spot where I needed to maintain a really high w/l at 2400 mmr or otherwise play a ton of games to get my rating to where my mmr is? How could anyone do that, even on mw, or something like a melee dps?

Seems super grindy

The MMR doesn’t change, I even tested that on a druid early in the season and left 4 games in a row (in the lobby). My MMR didn’t move, that Druid is still at 1700mmr. It seems the 200 rating only affects your CR.

Maybe just stay patient? It’s possible that you were simply a bit unlucky in your recent blitz games. You don’t have control over the teammates you’re paired with. But in time, you will start gaining ratings again.

Okay- thanks again. But were you able to recover cr to where your mmr was? With what level of difficulty, if so?

Ya you might be right, it’s fs taking forever with maps like AB. I mostly just take the rare blitz q pop when queueing solo shuffle so it’s been spread out.

I’ve DCed/crashed about a dozen times this season, as I spent most of it playing on very poor hardware. You can always recover a deficit, it just takes a lot of games. Most people don’t tend to have equal MMR and CR anyway for a variety of reasons.

My MM saw close to 2300CR a month and a half ago, after very few games played, and stopped playing at 2500+ MMR at no fault of MMR. I stopped playing MM because it was nerfed quite strongly.

Barely played BM but most of my gear is not for that spec, and it is still a strong spec in my hands.

Now playing Ret, still not geared, may have played 3 solo battlegrounds total and last I saw it was nearly 400 cr and I dont know the MMR as it should be placement games.

I haven’t gotten a play nearly as much as I’d want to because I work twelve hour days and raise 2 boys, if i’m not stuck sitting on a plane or driving across the country my game time is limited.
