Almost the exact thing happened in TBC classic when there was widespread arena manipulation and win trading.
Basically, Blizzard waited until the very end of the season to ban them all and remove them from the ladders. My issue is that they are making the game very frustrating right now and people will start to leave.

Hopefully it will be sooner. If they want the game to survive, they have to crack down.

Blizzard isn’t known for making intelligent decisions.
The data is there:
{
Does player x queue with player y? how many times?
Does player x lose to player y 50% of the time?
{
if true:
Do player x and player y log in at around the same time?
Check player x, y erratic performance
Are matches between player x and player y unusually short or one-sided?
}
}
This is just a start. The real issue is Blizzard’s neglect of the situation.
Blizzard, why haven’t you made proactive efforts using coding practices to ensure win trading detection and prevention? By now, robust algorithms should be in place that detect suspicious patterns, like frequent matchups, coordinated logins, and erratic performance. The tools are there—behavioral analysis, anomaly detection, and even simple measures like restricting repeat matchups. Yet, we still see win trading happening. Why not invest in more advanced systems to monitor and flag this behavior in real time, or impose stricter penalties on those exploiting the system? It’s time to prioritize fairness and integrity in competitive play.
PvP is dying because players are frustrated with the lack of fairness, and win trading only accelerates that decline. Implementing these changes would not only restore balance to the competitive scene but also ensure subscriptions stay around. Players want a fair and engaging experience, and addressing this issue head-on will keep them invested for the long run.

Good post. its absolute BS that these bad actors can get away with this and ruin the game.

I was watching Pirate Software on youtube, he is a former Blizz employee. He said that Blizzard waits, if they get them on the spot they will know why and can make changes to their stuff. In the mean time Blizzard is investigating and building a big list.
I am hoping tuesdays patch making more balanced groups will help!

Agreed, I hope Blizzard does not wait until the season is dead, because once it dies its done for the expansion… Players go into other game titles, start having fun and stay.

This is a stupid decision by blizzard. People will leave because they wait, win trading bans need to be implemented within the queue system functionality.

Totally agree, just trying to be positive knowing at least were getting something, better match making in Blitz.

There may be some boosters/boostees, but I SERIOUSLY doubt it is anywhere near the level the people on this forums imagine. I’ve played so many games from 1500 mmr on alts to 2800 mmr on my main this season, and there’s all sorts of throws happening. But 95% of the time its just people who aren’t totally positive on the best spot they should be, or what to trinket etc in certain situations. There’s been literally like 2 cases in the 500+ games i’ve queued where someone was actually afk at a base or something and it got capped on them.

I think they can detect Pilots already but it comes in ban-waves.
We might not see a ban-wave until season 2 if at all. It would be funny. I always enjoy the forum and reddit posts that follows “Blizz has banned me for NO REASON”

Not very confident on the ban wave as they just announced mmr inflation but only for solo shuffle and arena. Blitz is eating dirt right now with people throwing and leaving games.

A BAN wave is coming… Was only 3 months ago the big pvp streamers were all talking about rotation BOTs flooding pvp, did those botters all quit for the new expansion?
All others will be lumped in with the bots when that time comes, so who known when… lol.

We can do basic probability with the data provided to ensure that innocent people are not banned.

I’ve heard that excuse before but honestly it sounds like a cope/excuse for not banning them more frequently. the bots get to profit for weeks/months beween ban waves, more than enough time to level up/boost a few account and keep doing it.
they should do weekly ban waves. I can understand not banning them immediately after they do something, but there is no valid reason to wait WEEKS or MONTHS to ban them. there should be weekly ban waves every tuesday on maintance day. if its done at a set time every week that would solve the issue of the botters ‘FiGuRiNg OuT’ what got them banned.
there is no valid reason for ‘ban waves’ to be months apart.

They are months apart because they are being run by the developers. Sorry you had to find out this way.
