Blits EOTS - Needs an explanation

Just add a BG objective to a load screen or something. Just sat through a match where we got the flag and a person sat at a node that couldn’t be capped for half the game. People coming in saying “Cap 3?”

Needs something.

Dunno why the playlist shows arathi at the preview but all the BG are in there.

I tell people in game to go find this playlist when they seem lost.

Well, part of the issue is lots of players don’t even realize there is something different. Just seems like there should be SOMETHING to announce to players. No shortage of NPCs spamming us when we’re in the world.

It’s right there when you Q. In the description.

I don’t know anyone who relies on the adventure guide to beat high end raids.

Why would we rely on in game instruction for Rated PvP?

Adding extra instruction makes the game more fun for everyone. This isn’t a big ask.

What PvP comes with instructions?

I never had a tutorial WSG.

Because WSG needed instructions? Why are you arguing about this? Players are clearly confused.

And players have resources to unconfuse themselves.

Nowhere is there an in-game description of the blitz rules.
And the individual normal battlegrounds have little to no explanations either.

There’s never been instructions for PvP.

Right, and maybe that’s a problem.
There’s never been timers or gate/boss HP trackers in PvP either, but they should have them without needing an addon.

People will hard throw EoTS even if you type everything out exactly at low mmr

Fair point.

The resources are right there at the end of a quick search

But hey, maybe some adventure guide pages with BG instructions would be something people would read.

That’s the problem, I shouldn’t have to google the answer. Everything should be explained within the game itself.

Having to leave the game to find more information that could easily be put in it is just extraneous.

Like I literally got put into the new bg and there’s nothing explaining it. All I know is carts go somewhere and there’s something in the middle that spawns to be brought somewhere else.

Specifically to eots I think it should just be the same as normal but with timers on bases like ab/dwg blitz. It’s an overly confusing change and the ungodly amount of games where people go to the wrong bases…

It’s too vast a difference from regular eots which is the problem.

FWIW if you go to the BG list each one gives instructions when you hover over them.

They are bit vague but they are instructions! There ya go

i just had anxiety watching a teammate cap flag right after i cap the second base, twice

i try to avoid typing but eots is definitely frustrating

I stand by its just a poorly implemented concept.

I get that it has a flag which clearly made them want to do something different than ab/dwg, and conceptually it sounds good.

In practice though, the current format puts way too heavy an emphasis on grab both bases and win. And with such a drastic shift from normal eots (two bases active at a time, they swap when the flag caps), it’s too complicated to just go in and play like every other one.

First blitz in ab? You cap the base, there’s a timer, and pretty easy to understand.

Should just have the same concept in eots. It still makes capping hard bc by the time an fc gets to a base it can be neutral and both teams fighting over it. Would also greatly reduce the power of just grabbing bases that never turn and winning on points.

If your team can get organized, you can usually zerg one of the bases and take it back.

My wholly subjective hypothesis is a lot of people are used to just giving up and not trying to turn randoms around.

Blitz rulesets make for opportunities to break stalemates, much more than the old rulesets do.

But eots is a direct counter to that.

While this is obviously possible, holding two bases and spinning to win in ~5 minutes isn’t good gameplay. There’s no breaking a stalemate there bc the bases are held until taken or flag capped and smart teams know to not cap unless it will win the game.

That’s vastly less counterplay than unrated eots which has 4 bases thus splitting a team more heavily (yes 15>8, but the point still stands, 4 capping [same as blitz 2cap] is much more rare in unrated eots).

If the bases had timers like the other domination maps, then sure, it would absolutely have counter play and the ability to shift things without just losing attempting to get a base that’s being spun for a few minutes until gg.

Imagine if they made ab farm, bs, and st only but the flags stayed capped until turned by the opposing team.

That would mostly suck if one team was able to grab all 3 or even just 2/3 and spin them until the game ended quickly.

The more people play blitz eots the more they’ll learn to ignore the flag completely, turning it into a weird two base domination map.

And to be clear, there are obviously good games in it where teams fight over the bases etc., but it’s just currently too easy to win ultra fast with a relatively poorly designed format that weighs bases far too heavily over the flag.

It could be easier to break the two base somehow.

I’m not opposed to tweaking the rulesets. Absolutely opposed to going backwards.

Timers on the flags like in 5 point maps could be super interesting.
