Looking for some help on an odd issue here that’s preventing me from talking and adding blank entries to the guild’s chat log.
Issue Details
When typing in /g or /o, messages do not appear and other players cannot see anything posted.
When looking at the Guild & Communities window, the messages DO APPEAR and everyone can read them, but they do not show my character’s name. (e.x. Instead of “[Name]: This is a test”, it displays as “[ ]: This is a test”
This only impacts a single character on my account.
This does not appear to prevent chatting in /s, General, Trade, party, or raid/instance.
[EDIT] - My character also no longer appears in the guild roster.

I have them, but apparently, I can’t post it?
Things I’ve tried:
Removed all addons
Removed WTF/Cache folders (Per “Resetting the WoW User Interface” help article)
Thanks, Orlyia. I updated my post while you were replying to specify what I did for the reset. Additionally, logging out and back into the game as well as out of and back into BNet through the client did not appear to resolve the issue.
I understand; I followed all the steps in the article listed, including the hidden Virtual Store folders, to no avail. To that end, I’m unsure how UI issues on my end would result in a) other players seeing the blank entry listed in the chat logs and b) me not appearing in the guild roster for other players regardless of my logged in status.
Yeah, I feel confident I’m connected to BNet as I’m able to send messages to other players on my friends list and I did try logging out and back in again without any luck.
It looks like there’s some hiccup with the guild roster. If I could post screenshots, it may explain it better, but since I don’t show up as a member (despite being able to access all other features of the guild such as repairs, bank, view chat, view officer chat, have the tag in-game and on the forms, etc), I’m guessing it’s creating issues with my ability to chat?
Thanks for taking time to help, Orlyia. I’ll repost this in the Tech Forum and hopefully get this resolved soon.
Once you host your screenshots somewhere, you can paste the link and then use the Preformatted Text markdown on it (the </> button inthe toolbar). That will allow URLs to post.
Looks like we’ve gotten several reports of this type of guild shenanigans and it is being looked into. I don’t have any more info at the moment. Doesn’t sound like it is the same issue from yesterday, however.
Just looked up the ticket on this one, it is in testing, so they are working on it.
Won’t likely see any change until it is marked resolved, nor do we usually get any word till then. I’d just keep checking periodically. Given the weekend just started, not sure how much progress may be made before Monday, but does look like they are testing a resolution.
Yeah I Misspoke I have a continuation of tickets that I haven’t marked as resolved I’ve been getting responses and each one asks me to try something different the n says mark as resolve. Since the issue isn’t resolved I haven’t been marking it as so. Although seems since I have an ongoing issue the response times are fairly quick, just nothing with a resolution. Sorry bout the miscommunication
Every time you mark a ticket as unresolved and reply, a GM has to answer - just because the situation is ongoing, doesn’t mean that a GM can assist you.
Given that Orlyia mentioned that it’s an actual bug, that’s not something Game Masters can help with. I’d recommend marking tickets to them as being resolved and waiting for a fix.
I’ve been having this issue since reset and it’s only on one character, sadly it’s my main character who is an officer in my guild which is extremely frustrating since I can’t help with guild business etc atm. I’ve tried deleting folders, addons, and even deleted the toon and restored it and nothing. This is beyond annoying.
Orlyia has stated that the team is aware of it, and it’s in testing. As of now, there have been no further updates. All you can do is wait patiently, a fix will come when they’re sure that it won’t break anything else upon implementation.
